Choosing your College
- Major
- Admission requirements
- Size
- Location
- Cost
When considering majors, make sure the institution has your desired program of study and compare the strength of the program to other schools. When looking at admission requirements, be sure to look at the Freshman Profile for the school and compare it with your current academic standing. Do you want to attend a large school or do you prefer a smaller environment? This includes the size of classes. Do you want to live near home, does your career focus need accessibility of internships, or does weather matter to you? These are some of the things to consider with location.
Cost is often the motivating factor for families when determining what school to attend. When considering this, it is important to understand if you might qualify for financial help. Some families may find it helpful to look at a net calculator and also at the average financial need that the school provided to students in prior years.
If you need help trying to narrow a list or exploring options, please come by the Office of Academic and College Advisement.
