Concepts of the Month
New year, New topics
Science - It's time to explore ecosystems and biomes! Students will gather data for each of the major biomes and discuss how plants and animals adapt to their environment. It's also a great segued into the study of food chains and food webs! By the end of the unit students will also identify the importance of consumers, producers, and decomposers.
Reading - We're working on summarizing, main idea, and comparing/contrasting within the text just to name a few. Ask your child what they have chosen to read from the library. It's always wonderful to hear about parents who discuss literature with their children at home!
Writing - Students continue to practice writing with correct punctuation and spelling, expanding word knowledge and usage, and using our strategies to improve reading comprehension. Students are also working on their informative writing pieces.
Social studies - Let's dig into our history together! Students will investigate events leading up to Revolutionary War and how those events shaped America.
