News from Ms. Hess
Fifth grade mathematicians are learning to add and subtract using decimals to the hundredths. We started our study of multiplication of decimals today.
In literacy, we read learned about the elements of fantasy and read A Bad Case of Stripes and Weslandia. We learned to summarize by focusing on only things that relate back to the theme of the book.
Writers are publishing their fairy tales and beginning to visualize their creations through illustrations. We hope to make a class collection of fairy tales to inspire future fifth grade writers.
In time traveling, we are presenting our learning about Native American tribes. Next, we will learn about the motives of the European explorers that came to North and South America. On our Walking Classroom, we learned that Marco Polo is more than a game played at the pool. Ask your child what they remember about Marco Polo!
Please sign up above on the Holiday Party Sign up Genius to bring something to share on Thursday, December 14.
