PCA Weekly News

Week of February 1st - 5th

A Peek at the Week

Agiasmos

At the beginning of every month, we all join together for a Agiasmos Service. In the chapel, Father Andrew blesses us with Holy Water as students recite hymns.

MAP Tests

All kindergarten through 5th grade students have now completed their winter MAP tests. Thank you for sending your children to school well rested and prepared. We give students MAP tests to help us determine their instructional level as well as measure academic growth throughout the school year. MAP measures the areas of reading and mathematics. Your child's teacher will explain test scores at parent - teacher conferences on March 11th.

100 Days of School

All week long, we celebrated our 100 Days of School! The week was jam packed with fun, hands-on activities that focus on the number 100! On Monday, we began with a cake celebrating 'ekato' which means 100 in Greek. Our 5th grade students had the honor of blowing out the candles. The festivities continued with decorating hats, making posters, creating capes, making trail mix with 100 items, making t-shirts, taking 100 steps, doing 100 exercises, stacking 100 cups, writing numbers to 100 in Greek, and so much more! We ended the week with 100 balloons during recess!

PCA Masquerade Gala - Saturday, February 20th

The Gala is fast approaching. Be sure to purchase your tickets before February 10th to receive a discount. We would love to see all of our PCA parents in attendance. The Gala is a wonderful event that raises funds to purchase all the necessary things our school needs. With the help of last year's Gala proceeds, we were able to purchase a brand new ELA curriculum and made it possible for all students in 1st - 5th grades to have their very own chrome books.

We rely on your support for a successful Gala.

For further information, to donate items for our auction, or to RSVP, please contact Koula Fournier at koulafournier@gmail.com.
