Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
This week brings us St. Patrick's Day on Friday. I am lucky to be part of the Rainbow community! "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face this week!"
Speaking of green.... the district has gone ‘green’ with report cards and will utilize Home Access Center to communicate Second Trimester grades. Paper report cards will only be provided by parent request. Request for paper report cards can be sent to alessandroc@casdschools.org. Please include your student's name, grade, and teacher in your request.
Please be sure to read and review the Parent Home Access Guide below. It contains step by step instructions on how to create a Home Access account along with how to access your student's second trimester report card.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on, March 28, 2023. Spring conferences are by teacher invitation. If your child's teacher is requesting to meet with you to discuss your child's progress, he/she will reach out to you with a conference invitation.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Stauffer
Home Access Account Creation
Report cards are coming later this month. As you know, the district has transitioned to paperless report cards. It is important that parents/guardians have HAC accounts to view student report cards. You are now able to se up your own HAC account! If you need to set up an HAC account for your student(s), please follow the step-by-step directions below.
Below you will find, English and Spanish, step-by-step directions for creating your HAC account. Please contact Rainbow's school counselors with any questions.
Updated Parent Mobile App is Here!
Dear Rainbow Families,
After receiving feedback from families, the CASD has created a eSchools Parent App job aide specific to CASD. Please see a link to the updated eSchools Parent App below.

While assessment scores represent a snapshot in time of student performance and should not be considered the sole indicator of student achievement, your students participation in testing is important. Data obtained from each assessment serves as one of the tools for planning school programs, designing curriculum and instruction, and providing information to the public.

Restroom Concerns
Dear Rainbow Families,
Recently at Rainbow we have been experiencing an alarming amount of concerning behavior in our student restrooms. Over the past two weeks, we have had incidents of paper towels and toilet paper strewn about the restrooms, excessive amounts of toilet paper being put into toilets causing them to clog, writing on bathroom stalls, and human waste being smeared on stall walls. This is a major safety and hygiene concern.
This behavior has been a trend in schools and has become viral on social media, particularly Tik Tok. We need to work together as a school community to ensure that our students support and maintain clean facilities. As families, please take some time to have a conversation with your students about the impact this behavior has on our school.
Teachers will be reviewing and reteaching bathroom expectations with students. At Rainbow, the behavior expectations below are posted at each restroom.
We are Responsible
-Go
-Flush
-Wash
-Leave
We are Respectful
-Place trash in the trash can
-Honor the privacy of others
We are Safe
-Return directly to class
We appreciated your support to ensure the safety of our students as well as maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetics of our school.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Stauffer and the Rainbow Staff
Safety Reminder
Please do not park in the bus loop for drop-off or pick-up from:
9:00 - 10:00 AM
3:30 - 4:45 PM
Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff safe.
Pokemon Cards
Pokemon cards are enjoying a resurgence in popularity, but unfortunately, they are sometimes problematic when brought to school. Recently, the Rainbow staff and I have addressed many issues with missing cards, disagreements about trades, and damaged cards. Sadly, the issues have been upsetting to children and their families, and they have taken up time that is dedicated to instruction.
To alleviate these issues, we are requesting that Pokemon cards remain at home. I know that some children greatly enjoy playing with them, but the issues associated with playing with them at school have been significant. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to create the best learning environment for our students
Message from the School Nurse
Hi Rainbow Community,
I am reaching out to ask for your support as we navigate the trifecta of Flu (Influenza), RSV, and Covid. Chester County is experiencing high levels of Influenza A. COVID-19 is at medium level. RSV is most common under the age of 5. These children may have cold symptoms, sore throat, fever, not eating or drinking well. Sometimes, RSV infection can lead to wheezing or bronchiolitis or pneumonia. You should have your child seen by the doctor for proper diagnosis.
Vaccines for Influenza and COVID-19 are available at many pharmacies and Chester County Department of Health by appointment only, 610-344-5405.
Please keep your child home if they are sick. If your student becomes sick at school, you will be asked to pick them up promptly. Students with Influenza can return to school after being fever free for 24 hours without any fever reducing medication and symptoms have improved.
If your child test positive for COVID-19, the must isolate for 5 full days. The first full day of symptoms is Day 0. They can return with a well-fitting mask on Day 6 if their symptoms are improving and fever free for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
This is our district illness policy which can be found on the CASD website under Rainbow:“The following are some symptoms which may mean that your child is ill. Your child should remain at home when he/she has: Fever over 100 degrees, chills. persistent cough or shortness of breath, vomiting. diarrhea, unusual skin rash. severe sore throat, enlarged glands, abdominal pain, or inflamed eyes/eye discharge. A child should remain home at least 24 hours without a fever (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and/or vomiting following an illness. By following these guidelines, you will protect not only the health of your child, but the health or his/her classmates. Note that your child will not be able to attend school if he/she is suffering from untreated pink eye, impetigo, ringworm, scabies, unusual skin rash, severe sore throat, or fever over 100 degrees.”
All the best,
Maria Buhl, School Nurse

Important Reminders
Student Name/Teacher/Date and Time of Dismissal/Reason/Name of Adult picking up and relationship/Parent Signature and parent daytime phone#
All early dismissals should be completed at the main office by 3:00. Students must be signed out. Dismissals after 3:15 will be in the parent pickup line.
The adult picking up must bring a government issued Photo ID (preferably a driver’s license).
Refillable water bottles:Rainbow has transitioned to bottle filling stations. Water fountains have been turned off. Students should bring a refillable water bottle to school..
Transportation: A nationwide bus driver shortage is impacting many districts, including Coatesville, and may lead to increased delays. Buses normally run late the first two weeks of school as students and drivers become accustomed to their routes. We appreciate your patience. If your student is riding the bus, please have them at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to the arrival of the bus.
Parent-Pick-Up Notes: Thank you for having patience with us as we work to make our afternoon dismissal more efficient. Please help up with this by sending a parent pick up note into school with your student. You may send in a handwritten note or download and print the form below.
