"NUTS AND BOLTS" NOTES

Faculty Meeting

Teachers: At our Faculty Meeting this week, we will begin to work with the Teacher Performance Rubrics that were recently released by the district. We will begin discussing Standard 4: Assessment For and Of Learning. I will have copies of the rubric for you and anything else we may need for this activity, but you may want to just take a peek at that the rubric for that standard before the meeting. Here is the agenda for our meeting.

Records Day

Teachers: This Friday's record day is a full day for teachers to work on their progress reports. This particular record day is an in the building work day. The hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will have an hour for lunch that you can take whenever you see fit.

Also, please note that the March 24 PD/Record Day will be PD in the morning and Records in the afternoon at the location of your choice. Let me know if you have any questions about that!

Boots

Some of the older students are not wearing their boots outside for recess, even though they have them at school. Teachers: Please help us by reminding them that they need to wear their boots outside, even if they are staying on the blacktop. The blacktop is often wet during this time of year due to snow melting. Additionally, the kids often run onto the snow chasing balls. When this happens, their shoes get all wet, which is obviously a problem when they come back in the building. We will make an announcement about this as well, but please remind your students. Thanks!

Angela's Absence

I will be out next week, from January 25-29. Since Nicole will still be on maternity leave during that time, the administrators at district office will be "on call" to assist with anything major that may arise (hopefully nothing will!). Brenda and Lynn are versed in who to contact for various situations and are ready to help you out with anything you need. The other elementary principals are also aware and can be contacted for questions if needed. Let me know if you have any questions or have something that needs to be taken care of before next week. Thanks!

SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Snowshoeing

The 5th graders have been busy utilizing our beautiful grounds and the equipment that Mrs. Kestell was able to obtain. Over the last couple of weeks, the 5th grade classes have had the chance to get outside and go snowshoeing. What a great activity to promote physical fitness and the love of nature!
