First Days of School
The energy in the buildings is at a fever pitch as we get ready to welcome back the very reason school exist -- our students! Mike and J will be making rounds to each school during the first two days. You can also expect pairs of ELT members (those teams are found below in the newsletter) to be stopping by through Friday to give you their support. Additionally, J will be visiting all WY sites/classrooms on Thursday and Friday. We are just as excited as you and your teams to get the year started and have kiddos back in the buildings.
Take time to savor the moments that come with this time of year and connect with the amazing teachers and students you have in your schools. As always, if you need anything from us don’t hesitate to reach out.
Para Support
As enrollment numbers become more clear after the first two weeks of school we will re-evaluate our para placement to see if any adjustments need to be made in order to provide support where it is most needed within the system. Paraprofessional assignments do not necessarily carryover from one year to the next, as they are flexible based upon changes in building enrollment. That being said, unless new assignments are made beforehand, existing paraprofessionals are reporting to the school they ended the year with.
Please keep Mike posted on any changes to your split classroom assignments and any classrooms that you are predicting to be “oversized.” A review will take place about two weeks after school starts to determine if paraprofessional support will remain or need to be shifted.
The definition for oversized classrooms is as follows:
Gr. K-2: 26+ students
Gr. 3-4: 27+ students
Gr. 5: 30+ students
As the year goes on, if you have another classroom that meets “oversized” status and holds that classification for two consecutive weeks, please contact Mike.
PRIDE Updates (PBIS)
This month you and a member of the ATLL team will be meeting with your whole staff to share the rollout plans for PRIDE and determine who will serve on the leadership team that will do the heavy lifting associated with developing your building-wide plan to define, teach, and support appropriate student behaviors in your school.
