Photosynthesis and Cellular Resp.
Biology PreAp Mrs. Flores Davis Perkins
The Two Processes
Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration are directly related. Photosynthesis is the process of capturing energy via the sun and storing it in sugars. Cellular Respiration is the process of releasing the energy stored in sugars.
Where It Takes Place
Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast plant cells, where as Cellular Respiration takes place in the mitochondria of both plant and animal cells. In the plant cell during photosynthesis, a pigment called Chlorophyll is used.
Equations of the Processes
Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration both have equations in which there is products and reactants. The products for photosynthesis are Oxygen an Glucose and the reactants are water and carbon dioxide. The cellular respiration products are water amd carbon dioxide and the reactants are oxygen and glucose.
