The Carleton Chronicle
A weekly update from Carleton Middle School.
Congratulations!
On Tuesday evening, we were able to recognize some of our outstanding writers at the Writing Celebration at Warren Mott High School. Alana Haddad, Tahiyan Hussain, Caleb Jones, and Wisam Yaldoka all wrote amazing pieces of literature that captured the interest of many and told their personal story. The writers at Warren Mott were reminded about the importance of perseverance, revising their work, and the number of professions that involve writing.
On Wednesday evening, we were able to honor the nominees for Outstanding Teacher of the Year at our School Board Meeting. Amy Cleary, Melissa Hardy, Cheryl Lantto, and Karen Riccinto were all nominated by either their peers, parents, and/or students and they ALL deserve recognition for the incredible job they do with our students.
Next, we successfully finished WIDA testing for all of our English Language Learner students. I want to thank Ms. Erdelean, Ms. Fredlund, Ms. Kassa, Ms. Lane, Ms. Lenz, Ms. Shamoon, and Ms. Shkembi for their outstanding efforts to make this happen.
We are also in the midst of measuring our students' growth in the areas of reading, language, and mathematics using the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress. We hope to see positive gains from all of our students from the fall as many of them set personal goals.

Lastly, we have half days with students on both Wednesday, March 28th and Thursday, March 29th. Please plan accordingly and know that students are dismissed at 11am.

Thank you
Although it seems like a long time away, our Booster Club has been working feverishly on organizing our 8th Grade Farewell on Tuesday, June 12th. The event will be held during school hours and will be open for all 8th graders to attend that meet the positive expectations for the remainder of the school year. We appreciate all of their hard work and dedication in order to send off our 8th graders with a great final experience at Carleton.
Mr. Clark will be going over these expectations when we return from Spring Break to ensure that students know what is expected in order to participate in this fun day.
