Inspirational Quote
"People seek out retreats for themselves in the country, at the seaside, on the mountains...but nowhere can a person find a retreat more full of peace than one's own soul. Make use then of this retirement continually and regenerate thyself."
--Marcus Aurelius (121-180) Roman Emperor from 161 to 180. He was the last of the Five Good Emperors, and is also considered one of the most important Stoic philosophers.

- Cecelia Hart Price, Chief Communications Officer, Archdiocese of Louisville8th Grade Retreat
The 8th grade retreat has been scheduled for September 24-25. The focus of the retreat will be the movie “Save a Life” and will be excellent time for the students to learn, share and collaborate. It fits very nicely in the goals that have been established with the students in the areas of Respect, Responsibility and Reaching Out and incorporates the 4 C’s of 21st Century skills (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication and Collaboration). I am personally very excited in being able to provide the students this wonderful opportunity and very much looking forward to it. I will be a group leader along with Mr. Neeson, Mr. Streble, Mr. Gottbrathe and two parents.
The cost for the retreat is $20 per student and the money is due by September 22nd along with the permission slip.
If you are available to provide transportation to and/or from the retreat, please indicate on the permission slip. We will be leaving after attending liturgy September 24th at 8:15 AM.
What to bring:
Favorite snacks (we will be sharing with everyone)
12 pack (cans) of their favorite drink (these will also be shared, no energy drinks)
Sleeping bag

Toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, etc. Shower facilities are limited; therefore no evening or morning showers are available.
Casual clothes, including sweatpants and sweatshirts. Dress for the weather. Check the weather forecast on Monday to determine. We will be doing some outdoor activities.
If any student takes any medication on a regular basis I must be aware of this, so please let me know by completing the Permission Slip for Mediation and returning with the Permission Slip by Tuesday, September 22nd.
You may pick up your son or daughter at the Youth House at Incarnation at 2:00 PM on Friday, if you wish. If not we will take them back to St. Paul before dismissal.
What not to bring:
- No electronic devices including cell phones, MP3 players, iPods, Laptops, etc. The adult team leaders will have their cell phones. In the event of an emergency and you need to contact your child, please call Kevin Brever 502-439-1391.

Ms. Young's Class
The students in my classroom are using their laptops for almost everything. They are taking notes in their Google Docs, completing their assignments on Google Docs, and I can even send them their worksheets to do in our special learning management app, called ...Hapara.
Mr. Streble's Class
In the math classes we use the Front Row math app on our laptops at least once a week. In science they are used on a daily basis. I have the notes from every chapter prepared for the students. I just share them and we go through the lessons together in class. All of their science assignments are completed on their laptops including tests, quizzes, and projects. We also utilize Kahoot and other online sources for in-class supplements.
