Principal's Message
Happy February Sunset Lake Families!
We thank all of our families for a successful conference week. We are so happy to have our students leading their conferences and to share their growth and goal areas. We hope you found the time with your child beneficial.
February 11th: Please join us Tuesday 2/11 at Culver's Restaurant on Westnedge for a special fundraising night for Cambri Dorko. Cambri is a past Sunset Lake student who is now attending VMS. Cambri was diagnosed with cancer as a Kindergartener and has been battling the fight for the majority of her life. Please support her and her family by coming to Culvers from 5 pm-8 pm for a family dinner. A portion of the sales will go directly to help Cambri.
PTSO-To show support for our sweet Cambri, the February 11th meeting for our PTSOwill take place at Culver's Restaurant at 6 pm.
Count Day: Our school funding is based on student enrollment. Each year we are required to confirm our student population for each semester. Wednesday, February 12th is our second count day of the year. Attendance on this day is extra important, so please help us with this process by having your child (if healthy of course!) be present at school on 2/12.
1/2 Day: February 14th is a half-day of school for our students with release time at 12:15. Teachers will be participating in district-wide school improvement work that is part of our state school improvement process.
Sweetheart Dance: Friday, February 21st is the PTSO Sweetheart Dance. All Sunset Lake girls are invited to the dance with a special person of their choice. See the PTSO Facebook for details.
Mid-Winter Break: There is NO school on Friday, February 28th.
Please be sure to follow our end of day routines to help us ensure safety for all of our students. If you need to pick up your child early you can come into the office and we will call your child down for you. For students being picked up at the regular end of the day we ask that families utilize our pick-up process and wait outside our building to pick up your child. All pedestrians should use the Pedestrian Painted Walk-Way to keep from people walking between cars and to keep the flow of our traffic moving.
Drop-off-- please have your child get out of the car as soon as your car has come to a stop by the curb. It is important that we keep cars moving in a constant flow.
Yours in Learning,
Amie McCaw
Sunset Lake Elementary Principal
