Welcome to the new trimester! The library is here to help you achieve success through the many services we offer. Please read through the newsletter if you're new to find out what they are or, if you're a long time student, to refresh your memory. We have all the things common in a library (books) as well as a few things you normally don't see (exercise balls).

We frequently get asked if we're hiring. Once again, we are this trimester. Right now we have openings for the following times (but still fill out the application if these don't work, with shifting schedules comes shifting availability):

Monday: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Thursday: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

At this time, there are no regular student evening and weekend hours. Any occasional openings that occur are staffed by our regular student staff if our professional staff can't make it in.

If you'd like to be considered, please fill out the iapplication. It doesn't hurt to e-mail me as well or stop by to introduce yourself. -Krista

Upcoming Events

Student Library Survey

Look for a student library survey coming out January 13th. We'd love to hear your feedback on what you like in the library and what you'd like in the library. Check your e-mails and upon completion, you will be entered into a lottery to be able to win one of two $50 gift cards to the bookstore.

Diversity Commission Book Club Discussion - Middlesex

Tuesday, Jan. 14th, 12pm

2501 West 84th Street

Bloomington, MN

Meet in the library. Bring your lunch; we'll provide dessert. Our inaugural book is the Pulitzer Prize winning "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Featured Services

Writing Lab

Writing Lab: The Writing Lab is now housed in Greenawalt Library. Come see us for help improving the papers you hand into your professor. "A"s are not guaranteed. Significant improvement is.
Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) Writing Lab

InterLibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan: Ever search the databases or catalog and not find the full text of the article or book you want to read? Don't let that stop you. Use our interlibrary loan feature. Dian Larson will find that article or book you need and will usually be able to get another library to lend it to us on your behalf. We can't promise a time frame but we've heard of faculty members getting their articles within a day or two.

New to Our Copy Room

We can't help but be excited about two new options in our copy room.

  • Color Printer: You asked for it, now you have it. Located between the two copiers is a color printer. When you print, you can select librarycolor to capture the color from your photographs, PowerPoint slides or flyers. Fair warning--color printers cost more to maintain so you will use up your printing allotment fast if you print exclusively to the color printer. Use it selectively.
  • Scanner: Need to fill out a form and e-mail it to someone? Do you want to make an electronic copy of your handwritten notes? Then use the scanner! The copier without the copy card machine has been turned into a scanning machine. Simply follow the step-by-step directions to see how you can send a PDF to your e-mail account for storage anywhere.
