NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!!!
Reading and Writing
In writing, most of the kids are wrapping up their stories. We talked about coming up with a titles and brainstormed as a class for a few of the students.
Math
FOSS Wood andPaper
The kids also took a look at different paper samples (tagboard, newsprint, kraft paper, wax paper, paper toweling, cardboard, corrugated paper, and Kleenex). They tested out how well pencils, crayons, and markers worked on each one. The next day, they tested what happened when they added water to the samples.
We also looked at how cardboard boxes are cut and glued together. They then had to try to put them back together so none of the seams were showing! We also talked about how important recycling is.
Today, the students made paper pulp out of toilet paper and started to make their own recycled paper! We had several helpers from the fifth grade class help us with this activity. The samples will dry over the weekend and we will check them out on Tuesday to compare how it looks to normal recycled paper!
