WOLVES WIN BATTLE for Arizona Ave
What a game! The Wolves are once again the winners of the Battle for Arizona Ave. and Premier Region champs after beating Hamilton 42-38! Congrats to Dae Dae Hunter for being named the game MVP.
Wolfpack Marching Band
Congratulations to the Wolfpack Marching Band for being part of the Elite 8 and qualifying for Superstate! Come out and cheer them on Saturday, November 16, at 2:45 at Glendale Community College. Go Wolfpack!
BADMINTON NEWS
Congratulations to CHS Badminton for a great season! Isabel Honzay played #1 all season and was seeded #5 at the individual state tournament. She reached the quarterfinals, where she lost a close one to the #4 seeded player who then went on to place third.
In team play, Chandler High was seeded #7. In the 1st round, CHS beat Highland 5-4, rested, played an undefeated #1 ranked Perry, fought hard, but lost 5-0.
Congratulations to the following girls for a winning season: Isabel Honzay, Katherine Chou, Alana Alfredo, Mattie Shumaker, Evelyn Gomez, Tegan Sanders, and Katie DeDakis. CHS extends a special thanks to Coach Emshoff who is retiring after coaching CHS Badminton for 47 years!
GOLFERS head to state
CTE PROGRAM WINS $5000 GRANT
Congratulations to Ms. Christy Herndon, CHS Early Childhood Teacher, for being selected to receive a $5,000 grant from the Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers program! The money will be used to fund Ms. Herndon’s “Emotions through Literacy and Art” project, giving her high school students and those they work with in our childcare a way to express their emotions through words and art. Congratulations, Ms. Herndon and the CHS Early Childhood program!
CHANDLER HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR
On Friday, October 25, the city of Chandler hosted the annual Halloween Spooktacular downtown. The event drew thousands of people and could not work without volunteers. CHS AFJROTC had 40 kids assisting to make the event a great success!

RIVALRY SPIRIT WEEK
Last week’s Rivalry Spirit Week was just what the Wolves needed heading into the big rivalry game vs. Hamilton Friday night. Throughout the week, students participated in themed “VS” days where we had mathletes squaring up against athletes, elders vs. toddlers, cowboys vs. aliens, and more. Friday morning’s pep rally kicked off game day, and the celebration continued through lunchtime. As part of Rivalry Week, StuCo worked collectively with Hamilton High to raise money for the Make-a- Wish Foundation. CHS collected $1627.51. Thanks to everyone who donated, and to Mr. Tribby for being such a good sport during the ice bath.

COLLEGE APPLICATION INITIATIVE
Seniors and Families, CHS’s College Application Initiative hosted on October 28th and 29th was a huge success!
Seniors met with counselors and college representatives to work on completing college/postsecondary applications, the FAFSA, and scholarships. Seniors who completed an application and/or the FAFSA were entered to win $1000 scholarship and many other prizes. Students who were unable to complete their applications are encouraged to show their counselors or Ms. Anderson in the College and Career Center a verification of their completed application by Tuesday, November 26, to be entered into the drawings. Please encourage your seniors to complete their applications if they haven’t already!
Does your family need help completing the FAFSA, (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)? Join us for the FAF$A FE$TIVAL on Thursday, November 7th. Appointments start at 5:00pm and go until 7:00pm. Please sign up at the FAF$FA FE$TIVAL website. We will have college and university representatives here to help give you one-on-one assistance on completing the FAFSA application. Students who attend will get another opportunity to enter the raffle for the $1000 scholarship and additional prizes!
FALL CHOIR CONCERT
The Chandler High Choral Department, under the direction of Ms. Lori Lyford, hosted a terrific Fall Concert last week featuring Women’s Choir, Advanced Women’s Choir, Chamber Choir, Men’s Choir, Treblemakers and Chorale. The groups performed a variety of pieces, including “Take on Me” by Pentatonix.

Ms. Tracey Rodarte’s students participated in a service project in which they went to Arizona Brain Food and packed weekend meals for local students. Thanks to these caring Wolves!
ACADEMIC DECATHLON COMPETES IN TEST OFF
CHS AcDec students competed in a test off in Social Sciences, Literature, Music, Art, Economics, Mathematics and Science all based on this year's theme "Exploration of Illness and Wellness". This was a great experience to help prepare for the first full meet. Good luck, AcDec!
CHS EVIT TOUR
Interested CHS sophomores and juniors visited the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) last week to get a head start on career programs offered for junior and senior year. Students toured cosmetology, medical, diesel mechanics, radio broadcasting and cyber security programs.
STUCO AT FMSC
Student Council packed 39 boxes at Feed My Starving Children last week....that is 1404 bags of food. Stuco had a great time and encourages other clubs to participate in community service.
CHS SOFTBALL

What: Off-season training in throwing, fielding, hitting, and conditioning.

Why: Opportunity to meet Varsity/JV/Freshmen Coaches and to train with other CHS players prior to tryouts.
CARE CENTER FOOD AND DONATION DRIVE
Each year, student organizations at Chandler High join in a campus-wide effort to collect needed items for the Chandler CARE Center to be used for the Thanksgiving Family Assistance Day and the holidays. CHS is giving parents and community members the opportunity to donate as well. If you’d like to participate, please drop off frozen turkeys, canned fruits and vegetables, pinto beans, boxed stuffing, boxed desserts, paper goods, and toiletries to the front office by Wednesday, November 20th. StuCo will pack up and deliver all donations to the Chandler CARE Center. Thank you for your participation!
TAKING AN AP TEST IN MAY?
The regular ordering deadline for AP Exams is November 15, 2019. An additional $40 fee applies to each exam ordered after this deadline. Information on how to register and pay for an AP test is on the Chandler High School website under Counseling. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Baumann in counseling.

We welcome current 8th grade students to visit Chandler High School during our Student Shadow Days. 8th grade students will be paired with a 9th grade Student Ambassador who is currently participating in the IB Middle Years Program at CHS.
