A message from Mrs. Sideris
I hope this message finds you safe and well. With all that has happened in these last few weeks from wind storms and power outages to wild fires and hazardous air quality, we have already faced challenges this school year. I can say however, that there has been an amazing bright and positive light for myself and your staff here at Butler Creek, and that has been getting to see some of you as you arrived to pick up chromebooks and supplies as well as connecting with students and families as we continue on with orientations and getting students set up for a successful school year.
Since all buildings in the district were closed for 4 out of 5 days last week, we have added an extra day, Monday September 21st, to our soft start roll out of the school year. Teachers will continue to reach out and make sure that you all have everything you need to get started. Full day academics will begin on Tuesday, September 22nd and attendance will be taken.
If you have been unable to pick up a chromebook and/or your students' learning materials, you can drop by the main office on Monday or Tuesday between 8am-3pm. All students need to pick up learning materials and supplies that have been put together by their teachers. If these times do not work for you please connect with your teacher or the office to schedule an alternative time.
Looking forward to a great school year!
All the best,
Mrs. Sideris

Elementary Attendance Guidelines
Dear Elementary Families:
We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of how attendance will be recorded at the elementary level while in Comprehensive Distance Learning. Following State guidance requirements, schools must take daily attendance. Attendance is critical to student success in school, especially when learning remotely. Please be aware of the following.
Daily attendance will be taken once at the end of each school day, which will allow for the most accurate attendance to be taken in our Comprehensive Distance Learning environment.
Daily attendance would be indicated by demonstrating at least one of the following:
Participating in Live Session (Zoom)
Student engagement in SeeSaw (K-2) or
Google Classroom (3-5)
Communication from the student to the teacher via chat, text message, communication
A phone call between the teacher or educational assistants/paraprofessionals and the student, or, for younger students, with the parent or guardian of the student
Evidence of participation in tasks, assignments, projects
It is important that your child participate to the greatest extent possible in the schedules their teachers have communicated to you.
What do I do if my child is sick or on a pre-planned trip where we won't be connected remotely?
***Call your school office, and the attendance secretary will indicate excused/unexcused absences.
What if my child is in daycare all day, and we only engage in learning activities after school hours?
***Any student engagement in learning, even at night, is considered present for attendance for that day. Please communicate your family plan with your child’s teacher via email so that the teacher is aware of your unique situation.
What if our family schedule only allows our child to engage in learning activities at various times in the daily schedule?
***Any student engagement in learning, even at night, is considered present for attendance for that day. Please communicate your family plan with your child’s teacher via email so that the teacher is aware of your unique situation.
