Principally Speaking
We have reason to celebrate! Our mid year indicators of SRI and SMI, Scholastic Reading Inventory and Scholastic Math Inventory are showing great growth and increases in student proficiency! We are making headway on our goal of 92% passing or 5% growth!
With increases of up to 31.6% more students reaching proficiency at mid year, we are very excited. In many cases we are outperforming where we ended last school year. I am so proud of the work that students and staff are putting in and the results that are paying off in terms of the students' performance. I am looking forward to what our students will show after another semester of teaching and learning.
We commit to keep pushing forward. January and February are very hard months for students and staff, but they are also the months that separate the "men from the boys" so to speak. This is where we will continue to deliver high quality instruction, provide rigorous meaningful work and thinking for our students to do, and will intervene ON THE SPOT. Each day we will be better than the day before!
The graphic below shows beginning of year (BOY) and middle of year (MOY) performance on both assessments. Scores are reported to students in proficiency bands that are Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, and Advanced. The percentages show in the graphic are calculated by adding the proficient and advanced students together and dividing them the the total students taking the test per grade level to give the over all percentage of students who are demonstrating proficiency.
As always, I am honored and thankful to serve you and your students as the principal of Danville Community Middle School. I hope you can share in my enthusiasm and let your students know that their work is paying off.
Oh, and how about those Tigers!
Sincerely,
Marsha Webster
Principal

Nutrition Club Information
The Nutrition Club provides supplemental weekend food for children at North, South and the Middle School each Friday during the school year. We all struggle at some point. The goal of this program is to ease a bit of the struggle. You are welcome to sign-up at any point during the school year. The food will be sent home in a cinch sack or plastic bag that can fit inside a school backpack or be carried.
Please complete the form below or complete the on-line registration: http://www.kidssummerlunchbunch.org/club.php. You only complete one form per family. List all of your children that you would like to participate. Each child in your family will receive their own cinch sack or bag on Fridays throughout the school year.
