Warhawk Weekly 3/16/2020
#Be A Warhawk!
The Hall Way...
This next week will be new territory for us as a school community. As we begin our eLearning days, please know that our entire staff is here to support our students and families.
Our teachers have created lessons for our students and will post their eLearning plans on Canvas and send things out through email. These plans will help to provide our students continuity in their learning and to the skills and concepts from each of their classes. It may be helpful to set up a schedule with your student where they can dedicate time for each of their classes. If your student is having trouble accessing lessons or they need any help, please have them reach out to their teachers. Although we will miss working with our students in person, we are grateful that we have the resources to provide them support in this way.
During this time our social workers, nurse, and office staff will also be available via email if you have any concerns or questions for them. The staff directory on our school's website contains links to our staff emails and is linked here.
This newsletter is a live link. As things progress through the week, we will use it to provide any updated information. All you have to do is click the newsletter to go to the live page!
Please email me or Mrs. Spear with any questions or concerns as well. We hope all of our NMS families stay healthy and we will continue to work together to support our students.

MESSAGE FROM OUR CHOIR TEACHING STAFF 3/16/20
Tonight, the WHS gym that would normally house the District 200 Choral Festival is vacant, devoid of the sounds of students and music-making. In this time of isolation, we were lucky enough that our teachers were informed of the cancellation of our concert during the day on Thursday, March 12th. While students and teachers were disappointed that all of the hard work going into that concert may be lost, there was a scramble to salvage something. Through quick collaboration and extreme flexibility, the directors at our middle and high schools were able to record a version of our combined closing piece.
Each year, a piece is chosen for all singers grades 5-12 to sing together in the spirit of hope and collaboration. This year, the piece selected was “One Voice” by The Wailin Jennys. “It is a song about singing together, but in the larger sense about all of us coming together in the spirit of peace and harmony and love and hope, and all that stuff that we need more of in the world.” What better piece to enjoy at a time like this. We hope you enjoy.
Congratulations to our Wrestling team!
NIU has decided to cancel the State Wrestling Meet at this time. GREAT JOB NORTHWOOD!!
For wrestlers who are no longer wrestling, please turn in your uniforms to Mr. Rago.
