Sabercat Update
January 17, 2023
Procedural Update for PE/Athletics
In the morning and at the end of the day, we can have upwards of 900 students on each side of the gym wanting to drop off and pick up their clothes and shoes from the locker room. This has caused a disruption and created unsafe conditions.
Going forth, we will only allow students who are currently in season to enter the gym to drop off in the AM or retrieve athletic clothes in the PM. They will be issued a pass to have access to the gym. Those students not currently in basketball, will not be allowed into the gym or locker room outside of their PE or athletic period. These students will need to carry or leave their athletic gear. If they chose to carry their PE/athletic clothes, items must be in their clear backpack or another clear bag. Unfortunately, due to our numbers, we need you to assist in making sure your student understands our procedures and expectations. We agree it is not ideal. However, having a student population of over 2,080 is not ideal, but we make it work by putting student safety first.

Understanding Student Attendance and Attendance Letters
Attendance WARNING letters are automatically generated for a student who has been absent for 5 days in a class. Court WARNING letters are issued after 3 unexcused absences. Students are counted absent if they are not present in their class. It does not matter if it is marked as an excused or unexcused absence. An absence is an absence for class credit. If your student has fallen below 90% attendance, the grade level AP will meet with your student to develop a plan. If the absences are unexcused, the attendance officer will become involved. This is when we continue to closely monitor and access if the student needs to make up the seat time.
Please make sure you are checking the HAC. Send your student to school when they are not ill. Schedule your travel during the calendar year when students are not in school. First instruction is so important!
ATTENDANCE COUNTS
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Parents whose student’s residence, mailing address, email address or telephone number changes after enrollment should immediately update the change in the Home Access Center (HAC). Changes can also be reported to the registrar so that all records may be updated. After a Student Demographic Change Form and an updated proof of residency is returned (ex. electric bill, water bill, gas bill or current mortgage statement or lease agreement). A Change of Transportation form will be given to the student if needed. Please contact our registrar if you have any questions.
