WELCOME
Hello! Welcome to the Lemme Specials team news. We represent Guidance, Art, Music, PE, and Library time. Your students get to see each of us at least twice a week, and we wanted a way to share all we do with you. Enjoy this monthly glimpse into the areas that support the education and development of your children through: expression, movement, inquiry, health, and lots of team work.
Guidance with Mrs. Strabala
Hello Lemme Families,
The students have been learning lots in guidance this fall. Here are some of the topics we have been discussing.
Karen Strabala
Lemme School Counselor
Problem-Solving
In kindergarten through third grade the students have been learning about the problem solving steps. We have been talking about how to use the problem solving steps if we have a problem. The students have done a great job practicing and remembering all the steps. They are:
S-Say the problem without blame
T-Think of solutions that are safe and respectful
E-Explore consequences
P-Pick the best solution
How to Calm Down
In fourth and fifth grade we have been talking about how to manage strong emotions. They are learning about the calming down steps and have come up with some great ideas for calming down your body if you have a strong emotion. We have also been practicing calming down strategies in class. The calming down steps are:
1. Use your stop signal
2. Name your feeling
3. Pick a strategy to calm down
Cyberbulling
In sixth grade the students have wrapped up their lessons on cyberbullying and have started their second step lessons. These lessons focus on the skills they will need moving forward as they grow up and take on more responsibilities. We have talked about how this will help prepare them for next year when they move up to junior high! In the picture, sixth graders participated in a group challenge after a discussion on how positive and negative communication affect group work.
Art with Ms. Harper
Happy Fall, Lemme Leopard Families! The beautiful weather has allowed us some extra time to enjoy the outdoors and create some art with natural materials and ideas from nature!
Leaves Creating Worlds
We have been enjoying the fall weather and the beautiful leaves! Students collected leaves and we identified trees. We then arranged the leaves on paper in patterns and used watercolor paint in a squirt bottle to make prints of our leaves. The next class, we had fun using our imagination, drawing universes and underwater environments with our paintings!

Mark your calendars! Our annual Winter Sing-Along will take place on Wednesday, December 21, the last day of school before winter break, from 1:30-2:00 pm. Our K-6 community will sing winter favorites like "Winter Wonderland" and "Frosty the Snowman" as well as hear performances from our 4th and 5th/6th Grade Orff Clubs. All are welcome!
