attention 8th grade orcas: high school special programs application

Dear OSS 8th Grade Families,

OSHS offers a variety of high school special programs to its students. Each student will find the most exciting and academically challenging programs for themselves. The programs offer students unique opportunities for in-depth experiences and study in specific areas of interest. Each special program emphasizes a specialized theme and sets high expectations for all students to improve their academic achievements and prepare them for the 21st-century careers. In addition, Orlando Science Special Programs offer students hands-on activities and real-world problem-solving approaches. While all the students are encouraged to apply, they must have a strong interest in specialty areas of the chosen program. Students also need to meet and retain the eligibility requirements of the selected program(s). The details and the course progression of each program are available in the Orlando Science Curriculum Guide. Please ensure that you have read about the programs before submitting this application form.

National History Bee Qualifying Exam

Attention parents, all 6th, 7th and 8th graders will be participating in the National History Bee Qualifying exam in January. This exam is a preliminary step in qualifying for the National History Bee. We are asking all students to participate whether they plan to attend the regional competition or not. This is a great opportunity for students to test their history skills and who knows students may know more than they think!

After the qualifying exam, students will be notified whether they qualified or not for regionals. Those students will then be given the option to attend the regional competition in the Spring.

Good luck students!
