Library Link

August 2019

Director's Note

We had a wonderful summer reading program this year! Thank you to all who participated! We had a record-breaking year with 109 adults reading 859 books; this earned the library $500 from Cyber Solutions (thank you!). We had 5,300 hours of reading completed by 296 K-12 readers, and new this year, we had 113 participants in our Early Literacy program. The library offered 77 activities for various age groups that 1,750 people participated in; including a magician, trivia, Blank Park Zoo, and a city-wide scavenger hunt.

In August we take a little break from youth programming and story time. This gives us a little time to recover from summer and prepare for the upcoming school year. There are two exceptions in August. On the 21st we will be at the Carlisle Elementary school celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month! Stop by our table and get a library card for yourself or your child if you don’t already have one. And we are joining the Police & Fire departments on their 3rd National Night Out on August 24th. We will have a story time with an officer to start the day at 10:30am. Come to the library and meet an officer plus take a look at a real patrol car! Later that evening come downtown for all the activities!

Adults will have new programs coming soon, as our new Adult Programming Librarian has officially started. Feel free to stop in and meet Beth, our new librarian!
