What is going on?
We will begin imaginative writing this week. Students will learn imaginative stories have make-believe elements. They will revise their drafts for strong endings. Endings that communicate a wish, decision, memory of the event, final action, dialogue, or feelings.
Spelling Words and Grammar: both, clean, eat, give, looked please, sure, why
We will continue our second week of adverbs this week. An adverb is a word that describes a verb. It tells how, when, where, or how often. It often ends in -ly.
Reading: This week we will dive into the dictionary; learning how to find the meaning of unknown words and determining which definition is correct for multiple meaning words.
Math: We will be continuing to add 3-digit numbers and practicing various strategies to solve these more challenging problems. The students will be expected to apply these different strategies when problem solving.
Science: The student is learning that there are recognizable patterns in the natural world and among objects in the sky like the moon face changes, the sun rises and sets, shadows change throughout the day. This week we will focus on the daytime sky and the sun. At the end of our week we will celebrate with a kite day. If you have a kite at home you are willing to let us use for 1 day, that would be a fun way to wrap up the unit before Spring Break! Let me know.
