Ways You Can Help At Home

  • If you are ever traveling to the city or just driving through it, be sure to point out any important landmarks or buildings. Having the students actually seeing the different places and neighborhoods that we're learning about in school really helps to reinforce those ideas.
  • Summer is coming! Encourage your children to spend time playing outside. This helps to give the students exercise and learn the importance of taking care of their bodies.

  • In May we will be learning all about the city of Pittsburgh. This allows students to be able to learn the history of the city that they live in and become familiar with different places and landmarks. This also encourages students to become knowledgeable about characteristics and traditions that the city of Pittsburgh participates in.
  • As a class we will watch many videos and look at many pictures regarding the different people and places of Pittsburgh. We will also use Google Earth to look around the city identify the different landmarks that they are learning about. We will also use virtual field trips to tour some of the different places. If possible, we will plan a class field trip to one of the major Pittsburgh attractions (Science Center, Museums, etc.)

Help Us!

  • Please keep watching your child's mailbox for papers being sent home regarding our spring field trip. We will need parent volunteers and signed permission slips.
  • It’s getting warmer! Please make sure to have at least two extra seasonally appropriate set of clothes in your child’s cubby.

Looking Ahead

We have currently started our one-on-one assessments and have begun planning for conferences. We will need to hear from you which conference time works best for you. We are also coming close to the end of our school year so our end of the school year program will be coming up soon!
