UNA Regional Inservice Center
October/November 2022

Welcome, Fall!
Happy Fall, fellow educators!
I want to take the time to remind you of who your University of North Alabama Regional Inservice Center is and what we can do for you.
Established by the legislature in 1984, Alabama's Regional Inservice Centers (ARIC) were created to serve and support public school educators with high-quality professional learning experiences. The 11 centers which make up the ARIC network represent partnerships between higher education and the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE). State law (Act 87-714) mandates that each in-service center's operational schedule, programming, and budget allocations be subject to the authority and oversight of an independent governing board.
The regional in-service centers are housed at institutions of higher education across the state and primarily serve a defined geographic area as determined by the state legislature and the Alabama State Department of Education. The geographic region that the UNA Regional Inservice Center serves is Region 1.
Our mission is to provide data-driven, comprehensive professional learning experiences that equip all educators with the content knowledge and acquired skills necessary for improving instructional practices. We do so by offering sire-based instructional support, professional learning community support, and Professional Learning Unit (PLU) support. We can tailor professional learning specifically for school or district’s needs based on various data sources. Our sessions are listed in PowerSchool. Educators register and receive session confirmation using PowerSchool Professional Learning personal accounts.
We are proud to partner with the following to provide you with professional learning opportunities:
· Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI)
· Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI)
· Alabama Science in Motion (ASIM)
· Alabama Technology in Motion (ATiM)
· National Board Certified Teacher Candidate Support Mentoring Program (NBCT Mentoring)
· English Learner (EL) Support
· Office of School Improvement (OSI)
· Alabama Multi-Tier Systems of Support (AL-MTSS)
· Office of Instructional Services
· Office of Professional Learning
· Student Assessment (ACAP)
Please consider allowing the UNA Regional Inservice Center to provide you with high-quality professional learning that meets your needs. The sessions offered through the UNA Regional Inservice Center are mostly provided at no cost to you. We ask that you follow us on Facebook(@UNAinservice) and Twitter(@UNAinservice) to stay up to date on our sessions. Please contact us using the contact information below.
