A word from Mr Broom.

It's been a very busy week at SHCPS. I'd like to start by saying a massive thank you to those of you who took part in the bags-to-school initiative. We managed to raise £104.40 that we will invest in resources to support learning.

Donna Makepeace, our Local Authority advisor, visited school on Tuesday to set my targets for the year, and to discuss the next steps for school. Our results over the past couple of years are in need of much improvement and there's lots to do. We have very high expectations of our children and it's important that we exceed them!

On Wednesday, two visiting headteachers came to look at teaching and learning and write a review. They identified many strengths and some key points for us to work on, mainly around how our children are challenged at all times. They commented on the excellent behaviour now in school.

I'm really looking forward to next week. On four of the afternoons, I'll be teaching across all phases and I look forward to seeing you when you come to collect your children at home times.

Thank you for your continued support. Four weeks left! Where has this term gone?

Our Special Achievers

Junior Parliament - Hungate at the Forefront

Members from our Junior Leadership Team joined local political figures at Sherburn High School earlier this week, to discuss topic education issues related to our students. The local MPs were put through their paces with some very challenging questions.

Congratulations to our Year 4 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 99.3%.

As you can see below, our attendance in some classes is above the national average which is fantastic. Thank you for your support on this.

The overall attendance this week rose to 96.2% and is in-line with national averages. Many thanks for your continued support with this.
