NEW! Message from Principal Donnelly regarding Reopening
As a follow up to our Superintendent’s communication on Monday, February 22nd, we are excited and preparing to welcome back our students to school as early as mid March. As case rates in San Diego continue to reduce and the likelihood of San Diego being placed in the Red Tier increases, we want to assure parents we are preparing for the reopening of our campus for students to return in the hybrid model.
As you know, safety is our top priority and as we prepare for our reopening, here is the link to the PUSD Reopening Guidebook that describes our district protocols and important information on how we are keeping our students and staff safe. Over the past several weeks we have been increasing the number of students on campus and have been successful in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 by following the guidelines set forth by the CDC, CDPH, and San Diego Department of Health and Human Services.
A couple weeks ago you received an email from us confirming that we have your student as a virtual learner, or a Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday in-person learner. At this point, we can honor a move to virtual, but adding more students to in-person isn't always possible due to size of some classrooms and such.
In the meantime, we are excited to welcome back to Mesa Verde our students who are ready to return. Those who wish to remain virtual, will continue to be supported by their teachers. We will keep you posted on the latest updates for our reopening date when that information becomes available. Please contact us if you have any questions or need assistance.
We are planning an orientation for our current sixth graders who will come on campus for in-person learning. That orientation will be on campus on March 12. We will also do something for the 7-8 grade students who are new to MVMS this year. That will be after school sometime during the week of March 8. More information will come soon about both events.

NEW! LCAP Survey
We’ve had several thoughts shared in our ThoughtExchange school survey. Thank you to everyone who has already participated.
If you haven’t had a chance yet, click here
If you have already shared your thoughts, please return and add stars to the new thoughts that have been added since you last participated. That will help us understand what’s most important to our school community.
Your input is vital so we can set school and District goals and budget priorities to support our mission in providing college and career readiness to all students. Participation will be open until March 5, 2021.
Updated: Course Selection for 2021-22 School Year
Mesa Verde will do course selection in mid to late March. We will share a How To video for course selection as we get closer. Nothing to do at this time.
Counselors will work with students to help them choose electives and register through Synergy. They will post information on their counseling website.
We will be having a virtual Parent Information Night for our incoming sixth grade parents on March 23 at 6:30 PM.

Intradistrict Transfer Requests
For students who live in the PUSD boundaries and would like to attend another PUSD school, PUSD will accept Intradistrict Transfer requests for the 2021-2022 school year from February 1, 2021, at 8 a.m. through March 31, 2021, at 5 p.m. During that time period, there will be a link on the PUSD webpage to submit a transfer request.
For students who live in another school district and would like to attend a PUSD school, PUSD will accept Interdistrict Attendance Permit requests for the 2021-2022 school year starting February 1, 2021. Please note that the document must first be signed by your district of residence before it is submitted to PUSD.
Decisions on transfers are made by the Student Attendance and Discipline Office, not Mesa Verde.

ATTENTION 8TH GRADERS
NEW! 8th Grade Course Request Information
It is time to start the transition to High School. All 8th grade student presentations will be held on March 19th. Students will hear about their future high school and receive information on how to start selecting their courses. Click the brown button below to view the flyer containing information and links for parent nights, student presentation and open house drop-ins for all PUSD high schools.
For families who are waiting for a transfer request, your student needs to attend the high school presentation of the high school that they are slated to attend, not the one they are requesting a transfer. When they select their courses within synergy, they will need the high school codes for the school they are slated to attend (home location). All the different schools' virtual presentations will be recorded and accessible on the high school websites.
