The Nightzookeeper is a Success--A letter by Ben Davis
To Mrs.Fox, My Teacher
I hope you had a happy New Year! When this time of year comes around a lot of people start thinking of resolutions for themselves. This year I've made a few of them for school and one that is personal.
My first new year resolution is to get a higher reading level so I can explore new books. Some of the books I want to read are above my reading level. My next goal is to read more at night. I think I could read more than 20 pages. My last goal in school is to improve typing because sometimes I have to look at the keys. I have a goal outside of school which is playing fewer video games which would make more time for reading, activities, etc..
Many people fail to keep their resolutions, but I am determined to give my best effort to achieve my goals. I hope you can achieve some of your goals this year too. If your resolution is to be the best teacher ever you've obviously met your goal.
Andover District Climate Survey
Please take time during January to submit your responses before Jan. 24. The data from this survey is tracked through the Data Dashboard, analyzed by the district administration, school staffs, and the Andover Board of Education and used in district and department planning. We appreciate your feedback in helping us improve Andover Schools.
Time is running out to purchase a 2015-16 yearbook. Cost is $15 and the final day to place your order is January 29. Just a reminder, you did not buy a yearbook in the fall, as we just opened the order in late December. You are welcome to send in money with your student for the $15.00. Just be sure to put the money in an envelop with your child's name and teacher's name.
To purchase a copy, go to: https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/Order/SelectJob

were provided by a variety of people, inside and outside the district.
As I walked around, I saw teachers sharing ideas and strategies that will make student learning relevant. Teachers were collaborating, designing and practicing, all the things we want our students to do. Through learning goals, learning designs and assessing student learning our staff become more effective teachers. Thank you for supporting our students and our work.

From the Counselor--Mrs. Faust
The theme for February is Caring. We will work on being kind and compassionate to show we care. We will also work on expressing gratitude. Another way to learn caring is to work on forgiving others. We will also apply caring to help others in need.
The week of Feb. 1st –the 5th is National School Counselor Week. We will have fun activities each day. I will send a note entailing these activities soon. The theme this year is School Counseling-Recipe for Success.
We will soon be finishing up banana splits. Let me know any additional support your child might need. We will start up again next fall. I will also be sending notes soon about our banana split party.
From the Nurse's Office--Mrs. Whiddon and Mrs. Tauke
We are starting to see an increase in coughs, colds and sore throats, just a reminder to go over with your children proper handwashing and to remember to cover their mouths when coughing. Do replace toothbrushes, if your student has had any recent upper respiratory symptoms as the toothbrush can be a good hiding place for germs.
The health office is in need of donations of lifesaver brand peppermints or wintergreen mints to pass out to students to help soothe sore throats. Thank you
