Student Breakfast and Lunch on April 2, 2021
Breakfast, lunch, and supper are free for students daily. On Friday, April 2nd, pre-bagged lunches will be provided for students at dismissal, 11:35 am. As students exit the building, they can pick up their lunch at the meal stations in the social studies hallway, the math hallway, hallway 300, or at the cafeteria exit (the stations are pictured below). These stations are also used to distribute supper on regular dismissal days. As we encourage students to eat breakfast and lunch at school daily, please emphasize to your student(s) the importance of eating breakfast on Friday, April 2nd and picking up lunch as they leave on that Friday. The breakfast options on April 2nd are a chicken biscuit or waffles, and each entrée will come with a fruit. Students may receive breakfast in the cafeteria serving line and eat in the cafeteria before first block.

Students are invited to apply to attend our annual Leadership Workshop, to be held at school on Saturday, May 1st. This is a fun and interactive event designed for students to learn leadership skills and build relationships with their peers. Students do not have to hold a current leadership position to apply. Workshop is planned and taught by a team of student staff members who are hard at work making sure this COVID-safe version of Leadership Workshop is just as memorable and meaningful as always. Dual Enrollment Information
Landstown High will be holding two Dual Enrollment sessions next week for interested rising 11th and 12th grade students. On Monday, March 29th at 5:30 p.m. students and parents are invited to attend a virtual Dual Enrollment Interest Session to learn about the Dual Enrollment opportunities available to VBCPS students. An overview will be provided on how students may fulfill high school graduation requirements while simultaneously earning college credit. Additionally, on Thursday, April 1st at 2:15 p.m. all students who have requested a Dual Enrollment course for next year, including Dual Enrollment English, are asked to attend a mandatory Dual Enrollment application session. In this session we will walk students through the steps required to submit their Dual Enrollment application. Interested in applying for a Service Academy or ROTC Program from any service?
WASHINGTON -- On Thursday, April 8th, between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM the five Service Academies (U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy) and four college ROTC Programs (Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy) will host a Virtual U.S. Service Academy and ROTC information session.
This event provides the opportunity for parents and students to join representatives from the Academies and ROTC Programs regarding the various Academy and ROTC/NROTC application processes, attending a military academy or ROTC/NROTC program, and serving as a commissioned officer in the United States Armed Forces. This is also an opportunity to hear from representatives of the Congressional Delegations regarding how they can assist students gain a nomination to a Service Academy.

The Military Service Academies are federally funded institutions. All students receive a full scholarship including tuition, room and board, and complete medical coverage.

TCC Outstanding High School Graduate Scholarship
The TCC Outstanding High School Graduate Scholarship deadline has been extended to April 2 at 5 pm. Students may continue to apply through the TCC website at https://help.tcc.edu/s/article/Outstanding-High-School-Graduate-Scholarship.
Financial Aid & Scholarship Night

Spring Sports Tryouts/Practice
Spring sports will begin on Monday, April 12. Any student wishing to tryout must have a current physical dated after May 1, 2020. If not already turned in, then please bring it on April 12. Each student must bring their own bottle of water and face covering. As a reminder, there will not be JV spring sports so all teams listed below are for varsity.
Tryout/Practice times are listed here and apply to the first week. Your child will be notified if these times change after the first week. There will be 5:30pm activity buses available to bring students home if needed.

Spectator attendance for spring sports might be restricted, details regarding attendance will be communicated to parents soon. However, all boys and girls soccer matches will be livestreamed on the NFHS Network. The cost for a monthly subscription is $10.99 and an annual subscription is $69.99. A portion of the subscription will come back to the school division. This subscription also affords the purchaser the ability watch any game played at any high school in the United States that is a member of the NFHS Network, and any VHSL state championship contest webcast on the Network.

African American History Elective Course Offering Information
We will offer a new social studies elective, African American History, for the 2021-2022 school year. Students may request to enroll in this course through their electronic course verification form. Families will receive this form by email on 3/16/2021. See the attached for more information on our African American History course.
March Writing SOL
All students enrolled in English 11 will take the Writing SOL on Monday, March 29th. Students that did not test in Term 1 are invited to take the Writing SOL with Term 2 students. If students do not test, they can test in the summer months. This is a two-part test that all students must take to graduate. Click here for a helpful one pager about testing logistics. Student Parking Permits
Applications for student parking permits are available in the main office and during lunches. There is no charge for a parking permit this school year. To receive a parking permit, students must have a completed application, proof of insurance, DMV registration, and their driver's license. Please ask your student to check the expiration dates on these documents. The school will check the requested items and then return them to the student immediately. The application will be kept on file at the school.

“EAGLED UP”
Your Senior can be “Eagled Up” with a “Eagled Up” sign and some eagles in their yard. The signs will be placed on the evening before the request date and will stay in the yard for two days. We ask that you join in on the fun and “Eagle Up” the next seniors yard. If you are unable to do so, please let us know as soon as possible. It’s important that we have good cell phone numbers, our communication will be handled via text. Have something special to say? We will text your private message to the student with a follow-up message to go check your yard ....you’ve been “Eagled Up”.
