Central Elementary
Parent Newsletter 11/12/23
A Note from Mr. Hamilton, Principal
It's hard to believe the holiday season is already upon us. Thank you for your recent participation in PT Conferences. Your thoughts and insights are invaluable as we continue to plan with intention and tailor instruction (whole group, small group, and individual) to meet the needs of our learners and enhance their overall experience here at Central. Thank you, also, for your support in partnering with us through ongoing communication and at-home support.
This month we are focusing on the character trait of Teamwork. This theme presents a wonderful opportunity for students to work together in achieving common goals with shared purpose. See the CKH newsletter provided below for more ideas.
A host of awesome community events are on the horizon. We look forward to seeing you soon and creating more peak moments for our incredible kids!!!
As always, please reach out with questions, and thank you for your ongoing partnership with us!
Cordially,
Cody

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Data Update
With three months of data now in the books, I am pleased to share that the total referral count decreased roughly 23% from September to October. And, if our current pace remains true, we will likely see another considerable decrease (projected at 36%) from October to November. As another pride point, 89% of our entire student population have received 0-1 referrals thus far.
There are always a number of factors to consider. However, the data largely suggests that our kiddos have settled in, additional needs have been properly identified, and plans, supports, and interventions are working. The data also speaks to strong relationships having been formed, classroom communities in place worth respecting and restoring, and expectations being communicated and considered with consistency.
As a growth edge, the leading problem behavior thus far has been defiance. As a PBIS team, we will continue to strategize around improvement in this area, including emphasis on deliberate efforts to engage, motivate, and affirm.
Please continue to encourage your child to give their best while emphasizing and reinforcing the Rocket Way at home!

Parent Portal Demographic Update: Required by all parents
If you haven't already done so, please login to your parent portal account and complete the demographic update ASAP. This is a requirement at the beginning of each school year. Once you get the account set up, you will need to complete the demographic update. This process allows you to update emergency contacts, review technology use guidelines and the handbook, and give consent for field trips for your student. If you are having troubles with username, password, or access codes, please call the office for assistance. Thank you for giving immediate attention to this matter.
