Important information regarding materials to be included with scholarship applications:

If your scholarship application requires a recommendation letter/nomination/verification from school counselors or school administration, please submit all required documents to Mrs. Sherbert or Mrs. Martin at least one week prior to the deadline.

All requests for official or unofficial transcripts must be made in writing and must be accompanied with associated transcript fee. Official transcript-$3, Unofficial transcript-$1

Art Awards

Scholastic


Purpose: To reward America's best student artists.

Eligibility: Applicants must be in grades 7 through 12 in American or Canadian schools and must submit artwork in one of the following categories: art portfolio, animation, ceramics and glass, computer art, design, digital imagery, drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, photography portfolio, printmaking, sculpture or video and film. There are regional and national levels.

Gift for Life Scholarships

United States Bowling Congress


Purpose: To provide financial assistance to high school students with financial need.

Eligibility: Applicants must be USBC Youth members who are current high school students in grades 9-12. They must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need. Two awards each year are reserved for children of fire department, emergency rescue or police personnel. Candidates may win once per year up until graduation.

Minimum GPA: 2.0

Amount: $1,000.

Number of awards: Up to 12.

Deadline: December 1.

Beef Industry Scholarship

National Cattlemen's Foundation


Purpose: To aid students who are preparing for careers in the beef industry.

Eligibility: Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or college undergraduates, and they must have plans to be enrolled full-time in a two-year or four-year undergraduate program during the upcoming academic year. They must be enrolled in a beef industry-related program of study and have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the beef industry through previous coursework taken, internships completed or other life experiences. They or their families must be members of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. Selection is based on the strength of the essay, letter of intent and reference letters.

Amount: $1,000.

Number of awards: 25.

Scholarship may be renewable.

Deadline: December 13.

Young Patriots Essay Contest

National Center for Policy Analysis


Purpose: To assist high school students who write about public policy.

Eligibility: Applicants must write an essay up to 1,200 words on the public policy topic provided. Students must be current high school students or recent high school graduates who have never enrolled in any college or university excluding AP or dual credit classes taken during high school.

Amount: $2,000-$5,000.

Number of awards: 3.

Deadline: January 5.

Eligibility: Applicants must be in grades 7 through 12 in U.S. or Canadian schools and must submit writing pieces or portfolios in one of the following categories: dramatic script, general writing portfolio, humor, journalism, nonfiction portfolio, novel, personal essay/memoir, poetry, science fiction/fantasy, short story and short short story.

Boomer Esiason Foundation Scholarship Program

Boomer Esiason Foundation


Purpose: To provide assistance to students with cystic fibrosis.

Eligibility: Applicants may be pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. They must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, character, leadership, community service and financial need. Scholarships are awarded in March, June, September and December of each year.

Amount: $500-$2,500.

Number of awards: 10-15.

Eagle Scout Scholarship

National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution



Purpose: To reward exceptional students who have reached the status of Eagle Scout.

Eligibility: Applicants must have reached Eagle Scout status, must currently be registered in an active unit and can't have reached their 19th birthday during the year of application. Applicants can apply multiple years as long as they are under the age limit, but the maximum award amount is $8,000. Applicants usually apply at the chapter level. Applicants will be required to submit an essay and four-generation ancestor chart with their application.

Amount: $2,000-$8,000.

Number of awards: 3.

AFSCME Family Scholarship Program

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO


Purpose: To offer financial assistance to the dependents of AFSCME members.

Eligibility: Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who are the daughters, sons or financially dependent grandchildren of AFSCME members who intend to enroll in a full-time, four-year degree program in any accredited college or university. Applicants should submit applications, essays, transcripts, test scores and recommendation letters. Selection is based on information provided on the application form, high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores and a required essay.

National High School Poetry Contest/Easterday Poetry Award

Live Poets Society


Purpose: To provide a venue for young poets to be recognized.

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. high school students. Submitted poems must be 20 lines or less, in English, unpublished and not simultaneously submitted to any other competition. Applicants may only submit one poem during any 90-day span and must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with each mailed entry, or applicants may submit their poems online. Submissions are accepted year-round.

Amount: Up to $2,500.

Number of awards: Varies.

Deadline: March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to high school seniors with learning disabilities who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees.

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are academically successful in public or private secondary schools and with an identified learning disability. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Financial need is considered.

Minimum GPA: 3.0

Amount: $2,500.

Eligibility: Applicants must be high school seniors or undergraduate students enrolled at least part-time. Students must make a short video (three minutes or less) describing how they think Rocket 55 got its name. The top five videos will be posted on the company's website, and the winner will be selected by a public vote.

Amount: $1,000.
