K-9 Week for the Law Enforcement and CSI Programs

The week of May 10th was the annual K-9 week where each day a K-9 officer and their partner visited EACC. Students were able to watch the dogs demonstrate their skills and ask questions of the officers. Students met TK a German shorthaired pointer trained to locate illegal acquisition of fish and wildlife, people, and evidence, Maja a Dutch shepherd from Poland trained in narcotics and patrol utility, and Nellie the bloodhound trained in tracking missing and endangered individuals as well as cadavers. Check out our Facebook page to learn more about K-9 week.

Work Based Learning at EACC

By creating opportunities to learn in the workplace, EACC can help students develop and refine the workplace competencies needed to enter and succeed in a chosen career, adjust to the employment environment, and advance along the career pathway of their choice. We offer Internships, clinical experiences, practicums, apprenticeships, job shadows, industry tours, guest speakers, project consultants, Employability Skills Panels, Mock Interviews, Career Fairs, and more, to all of our students. Even with strong COVID restrictions, we were able to place 95 students in internships/practicums/clinical experiences and 23 in job shadow experiences.

Career Fair in the new Engineering , Technology and Innovation Building

On Friday, May 7, we held our annual Career Fair in the ETI building. We had over 70 participating businesses and over 900 students attend the event. Students were looking for opportunities for work-based learning, summer employment, and full-time positions. We are still collecting the data, but we know that many businesses scheduled follow-up interviews and students walked away with a greater appreciation of the job diversity and availability. All our major events are announced on our social media accounts and through this newsletter. Please keep following us to stay in the know about our upcoming events.
