The Star Gazer
We need your help ensuring the safety of all our students. We have teachers on duty starting at 7:25 each morning. Please stay in your car with your child until the teacher is present. Also, if your child is a walker, they should not plan to arrive earlier than 7:25 am. We want to ensure all students are safe on our campus and need to make sure students are supervised when they arrive.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on September 26-27. You should have received a note so that you can choose times that work best for your family. Please send these back to school by Monday so teachers can begin scheduling conferences.
We have been having many students wear "Heelies" shoes to school. These scratch our floors and are unsafe to wear with the wheels in. If your child wears them, please take the wheels out at home before they arrive at school. We appreciate your help!
DTSOI will be hosting a Chess tournament for students in 2nd-5th grade on Saturday, October 8th from 8:30-3:00. Students who are interested in participating need to complete a registration form by Monday, September 26th. Forms are in Mrs. Coleman's room (at the end of the blue hall). Parents are in charge of their child's transportation and supervision during the tournament.
Lunch for the week:
Monday- Chicken Spaghetti or Stuffed Breadstick
Tuesday- Peppi Pasta and Chicken Nuggets
Wednesday- Oven Roasted Chicken or Pork Steak
Thursday- Fiesta Tots or Pizza
Friday- Grilled Cheese or Sliders
Bright Star Awards
We are reinstating the Bright Star Awards among faculty and students. Please use this form to nominate a staff member or student who exemplifies our mission of working hard, being kind, and shining bright! We will announce winners in the mornings on the announcements and post the award winners on social media.
One new item the PTA is organizing is a school directory. Parents will log in and decide what, if any, personal information will be shared. This can be used by parents to set up playdates, invite friends to birthday parties, or to organize class party helpers. Make sure you log in and share the information you feel comfortable sharing. Here is the LINK!
Visitors During Lunch
Shaw welcomes you to have lunch with your child any day of the week. Please bring your ID with you so we can print you a visitor badge. You can sit in the area outside of the library or at the picnic tables out front. If your child would like to invite a friend, we ask that you limit it to one other student. Also, if you are bringing food to provide to that friend, please inform the other parent first. We have many students with food allergies and sensitivities and Nurse Morgan will not be able to check those every day. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping all our students safe.
We think our staff is the Best in the Universe and we love to show them appreciation each week for their hard work! We would love to have your help in our efforts. Choose a week to sign-up to send items or funds to cover items. We will reach out to you the week before to see how you'd like to contribute. Some items we have done: bagel bars, ice cream, Sonic drinks, pies, etc. Parents who contribute funds typically send around $75 through our Shaw Hospitality Venmo account. Click here if you would like to sign up to sponsor a week.
