WIDA Testing
As a proud multilingual school district, each year Wayne-Westland students in English Learner programs take the WIDA ACCESS. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our schools and throughout our state. Teachers in our schools use this information to help them make decisions about instruction for your child. Teachers also use these test scores to monitor the progress your child makes toward English proficiency. Testing begins on February 6, 2023. Students will take the assessment during school with the least amount of disruption to their schedule. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Lawera at laweraa@wwcsd.net or call (734) 419-5357 or (734) 419-3213.
NWEA Testing
NWEA testing will continue this week . Students will test in ELA, Math and Science over the next three weeks. We are encouraging students to try their best when they are testing.
Students who meet their individual growth goals will be able to participate in an incentive as a reward. We are also in a competition with Adams and Stevenson middle school. The school with the most growth gets bragging rights and takes home the trophy. Check out our challenge video.
High School Counselor Visit
The high school counselors will be coming to meet with all of our eighth graders regarding high school scheduling on Monday, January 30. The counselors will be in all of the eighth grade science classrooms. The high school counselors will be presenting to students how to enter their elective course requests via their student connect account. They will also be showing our students a video and answering any questions that they might have regarding high school.
There will be a “Future Freshman Night” at both Wayne and John Glenn on Thursday February 2nd for all eighth grade students and their parents/guardians. Students will be given a flier about the Future Freshman Night to take home that has all of the details included in it! The flyers are pictured below.
