Picture Yourself Growing in First Grade
Hello (from the Other Side)
While we are saying goodbye to Ms. Mankowski, all of the experiences, learning and fun that was had with her will stay with us! I am so grateful to Ms. Mankowski for the amazing job she did in my absence.
My goal is to make sure the transition is a smooth one for all of the students in our class. Ms. Mankowski and I had open communication, and I don’t anticipate much change for your child. However, we will have an open dialogue in the classroom about being flexible and patient because there will be a few small differences in your child’s day. I want to reassure you that I am extremely sensitive to this transition, and I will do everything possible to make sure that it is positive for each and every student. I am very excited to move forward, and I look forward to watching your child grow.
To help with the transition, my first week back will be spent getting to know each other and learning about one another while we continue learning . In language arts, we will not be starting a new Lesson in Journeys. I will spend time reviewing skills taught, reviewing Daily Five expectations, assessing students, and working with students in groups. These assessments will help me get to know your child and guide my instruction over the next few weeks.
It is going to be a great journey to the end of the year!

Who is Mrs. Seymour?
I was born in Syracuse, NY, but I was raised in Collingswood, New Jersey. In fact, I was even a Tatem Tiger just like you! After graduating from Collingswood High School, I continued to learn at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. I played lacrosse in college, and I was able to travel all over the country playing the sport that I love! RU Rah Rah!
I was lucky enough to get a job coaching lacrosse at Rutgers and continue my education. I entered the Graduate School of Education, and I couldn't wait to graduate and pursue my passion...teaching.
This is my seventh year teaching First Grade here at Tatem, and I couldn't be happier. I love reading and we do a lot of reading in First Grade! I love books so much. My only hope is that you will go to second grade loving books as much as I do!
My husband, David and I are raising our 2 beautiful baby girls, Kailyn and Keira. Kay is 5 and Keira is 3. They are so much fun and they keep me on my toes! Of course, you know we added to our family with a new baby brother...Wyatt! Lucky Wyatt has 3 mommies telling him what to do. Of course, I can't forget Teddy, or Teddy Baby Boy as I like to call him. He is our sweet, spunky pup that gets into a TON of trouble. You will hear all of his antics as the year goes on.
In addition to teaching, I also coach lacrosse at Rutgers Camden. Go Scarlet Raptors! My family loves cooking, playing sports together, and spending time in Ocean City. I can't wait to learn all about you!
