Assessment
"ASSESSMENT IS NOT ABOUT YOU AS A TEACHER, IT IS ABOUT YOUR STUDENTS" (LOPEZ, 2013)
I strongly agree with Mr. Lopez's quote, because assessment is not about the teacher. Assessment is all about the student. Formative assessment is used as a tool by the teacher, to see how well the student is learning the lesson/subject. And it also shows where students need improvement. It is important for the students to know and also understand the assessment
Questions related to Assessments:
1.) Why are you participating in the assessments that you use with students?
2.) Can you share explicit detail the value that you find in each assessment?
3.) Do you participate in assessments that you find no value in for students?
4.) Are you using an assessment you have no idea how to deliver, but are afraid to ask for help with?
How might you use these questions in your current or anticipated practice?
I believe by keeping these questions in the back of my mind and asking myself, will help me look back on the importance of doing the assessments. It will also help me better myself and the assessment for the students. By considering the questions above, I can double check what i am providing my students. And I can make sure I give them the best education possible.
What ways have you succeeded/failed to make students your partner in assessment?
I feel that I have succeeded by making sure the students are involved in the assessment process. I feel that it is very important for my students to be my partner in assessment. I love/enjoy listening to and taking in all of the feedback that they give. I believe I learn where my students are academically by observing them.
