Team of the Week - Kindergarten

Robert Fulghum shared it best when he wrote, "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten." Our kinder teachers work hard to give each of our students a firm foundation on which to build. Thanks for all you do for our Hartman "Eaglets" each and every (loooong) day!
Fun Facts: Kristen Cox's mom taught kindergarten for many years at Hartman. Jennifer Scamperino has been on staff since our school opened. Deedra Mann has taught kindergarten for more than 20 years and has never taught another grade level!

Focus on: PLCs

The four questions that should guide the work of a PLC:

What do we expect our students to learn? (Goals)

How will we know they are learning? (Assessment)

How will we respond when they don't learn? (Intervention - RTI)

How will we respond if they already know it? (G/T, Enrichment)

Teacher's Guide to Reflective Practice

Design Question 4: What will I do to help students generate and test hypothesis about new knowledge?

Student evidence: My students are clearly working on tasks that require them to generate and test hypotheses.

Science instruction should involve hand-on learning. Think about how you are using science labs and experiments.

Great Things Happening in our Classrooms!

Kudos to Krisitna Bell and Grace Jones. They send out a monthly electronic newsletter. The students share what they are learning/doing!

Kudos to Tina Hughes for using a great activity to help students learn/practice how to use guide words in a dictionary.

Kudos to Lydia Watkins for using creative techniques to teach pre-school speech students correct speech sounds!

Kudos to Terrell Langley. She does a great job of letting students share their thinking out loud during math instruction.
