Is Anyone at Your School Using Readworks?

Readworks is a free K-12 resource that has many of the same features as similar websites that carry fees. They have leveled articles in multiple subjects, many different languages, text-to-speech capabilities, an "Article of the Day," the ability for students to log in and build a "book of knowledge" and more. More details can be found here.

Apply to Be in the Next Cohort of Indiana Career Explorer

DOE is looking for at least 15 schools to have their 8th graders participate in the pilot program for the Indiana Career Explorer program for 2018-19. Some of our member schools were a part of this year's cohort. Applications are due by May 25. You can find complete details in this recent memo.

Indiana Humanities: Great Source for Activities & Grants

"Teaching Science with Frankenstein" is one of several events being held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the book being published. It will be held May 19 from 10 am-1pm at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis. (Don't worry, most of the Royal Wedding will be over by then.) There is a fee, but attendees will receive several activities & items of use. While many of their grants go to nonprofits, in the past two years Indiana Humanities has awarded several to schools, including author visits. They have many events throughout the year across the state. Their website is well worth exploring.
