Assessment

Share your perspective on Lopez's quote and statement.

Assessment is not about you a a teacher, it is about your students. Our reason for assessing students should be grounded in our commitment to use the information collected in a way that helps us generate greater success for our students.


Education is the key to success and it is very important for children. We are the educators that are here to make sure the students get the education that is needed for them to be successful. It's not about us we have our education now it's time to make sure our children gets theirs.

Consider the 4 questions Lopez list under "Defending our Assessment Practices."

1. Why are you participating in the assessment that you use with students?

The purpose of assessment is to refine programs and improve students learning. It is the process of gathering & discussing information in order to develop a deep understanding & what a child can or cannot do. We as educators have to know our children and what level they are on. all children are different and we need to do where they are in order for them to make progress and meet their needs.


2. Can you share in explicit detail the value that you find in each assessment.

S With technology today I believe we can share in detail the value we find. Assessment been around for years there may be some out dated but there are so much that is new and up to date information that is available to everyone.


3. Do you participate in assessment that you find in each assessment?

I love learning new things. So anything I see that looks amazing and something I can teach to my students I will participate. Children love new ideas and anything that will make learning fun.


4. Are you using an assessment you have no idea how to deliver, but are afraid to ask for help with?

We as teachers and educators don't know everything. I have not had to opportunity to work with assessment, but I will never be afraid to ask questions to get a better understanding. Asking questions and finding help is the only way I am going to be able to teach it to my students. I have to know what I'm teaching in order for my students to be getting the correct information.

Partnership- In what ways have you succeeded/failed to make your partner in Assessment? I haven't had the opportunity to teach in a classroom yet.
