April Newsletter

April Showers

Well, what can I say. The last few weeks have been surreal. As a school, we went from preparing for the fourth quarter to preparing for the uncharted distance learning. I am so proud of the Ada-Borup team. The teachers, counselors, specialists, custodians, culinary staff, transportation staff, and paraprofessionals have all stepped up to the challenge and have soared!

The students and families have also taken all of these sour lemons that have been handed to us and made lemonade. Every day, students are logging on and working remotely and continuing to put their best foot forward to be successful in their learning. Our goal is to continue to achieve authentic and purposeful educational opportunities with our students, and the students and families are meeting that goal every day!

Please take care of yourselves. I miss seeing all of those smiling faces, and I cannot wait until I get to see everyone in person again.

Getting Through This TOGETHER

We are in uncharted territory in the world today. Global, national, state, community, personal dynamics have all changed in ways no one could imagine just 6 months ago. Navigating through this uncharted territory does not have to be done alone! This pandemic is straining every single human on this planet. Good news is- we are all in this together- BETTER news is we can HELP each other through it all. Mental health is the biggest challenge through this pandemic. There are so many factors in play, that we can’t plan for every scenario. BUT we CAN give you access to additional supports, and asking for help in no way implies you are not handling this pandemic well- it means you ARE handling it by maintaining your sanity. There will be resources shared via social media, school website, email, any way I possibly can get the information out. ALL you need to do is ASK, and we will help in any way we can. As the school nurse who also is a public health nurse- I am able to help in ways not always available. Connecting you with the resources you need to get through this pandemic safely while maintaining your sanity is my priority!

"PAW"gress Update

“PAW”gress Time

Study after study shows the importance of reading to kids. Being home all day is a great chance to increase that habit.

Put in reading blocks. Fifteen to 20 minutes a day is a great place to start (remember, that’s total minutes, not all at once. Break it apart). Consider structuring this reading block in a few different ways: parent reads aloud, child reads aloud (if the child can read). There’s no such thing as too much reading! If you have any questions please contact us at the school!

Ms. Jan and Ms. Julie are both working hard on providing library experiences while we are in distance learning mode. If you have library books as home, please return those with your packets on Monday. They will then be in contact with the students to check out more books.
