FANTASTIC START OF SCHOOL VIKINGS!
Greetings Viking Parents, Students and Community,
Thank you for an amazing start of the school year through distance learning!
We are here for you! Please continue to reach out to us by calling (714) 997-6251 with any questions or to make an appointment.
We are excited to share that the building of a full-scale replica of the 1902 Wright Brothers Glider is now completed. The glider, 32 feet from wing tip to wing tip, is magnificent.
Thank you to the coordination by our CTE/STEM teacher, Mr. Dan Baker, our Cerro Villa Makers Club members and the generousity of funding by our Villa Park Rotary to make this incredible dream a reality.
Please see the recent full article write up from Orange County Department of Education.

Birthday Message
Do you have a birthday you would like to showcase? If you would like to see it in lights, we are personalizing your students’ special day on our marquee. Please contact Student Services at (714) 997-6251 for details and to reserve your date.
Free Money
We call it “Free Money” since often we are able to get donations from sources outside of our Cerro Villa families! This often enables us to earn money for CV just by shopping or by getting matching funds for money that we were going to donate anyway. It’s a great way to earn additional money for our school!
Did you know that when you do your shopping with Amazon you could be giving back to Cerro Villa? By going to https://org.Amazon.com and specifying “Cerro Villa PFSO” our school could be getting cash every time you shop!
Does your workplace offer a donation matching program? Some companies offer dollar-for-dollar matching funds for employee charitable donations. The Cerro Villa PFSO is a 501(c)3 organization and could qualify for your employers matching funds! If you have any questions contact your Human Resources department or contact the CV PFSO at cvpfso@gmail.com.

Free Public Education
Section 5 of Article IX of the California Constitution guarantees students a “free and appropriate public education”. The State Supreme Court concluded in the 1984 case of Hartzell v. Connell, “that all educational activities carried on by public school districts, extracurricular as well as curricular, must be without cost to the students who participate in such activities”. This same ruling found that “mandatory fees for participating in such extra-curricular activities as drama, music, and athletic competition were illegal under the State constitution”. Furthermore, the State Supreme Court also rejected the argument that “fees could be charged as long as the district waived fees for students who were financially unable to pay”. I would like to assure you that Cerro Villa Middle School does not engage in a “pay for play” system.
