April 27, 2022

Dear Parents,

We have had quite a fun week at Rose so far! Our 5th grade students went to Timber-Lee on Monday and had a memorable outdoor adventure! Students climbed up tall towers, went zip lining, made keychains and bracelets out of leather, pet and held exotic animals, and studied water samples. Our group had a great time bonding in the fresh spring air up North. Thank you to all of the staff that planned and chaperoned the trip four our Stingrays to have this capstone experience.

Students also redeemed Rose Bucks today at the trade-in event. Students have been earning and saving bucks for this big event! If students did not redeem them today, there will be one more big sale at the end of the year. We are proud to celebrate the positive behavior of our Rose students.

News to Note:

  • Spring MAP Testing: Students in Grades 2-5 will begin MAP testing tomorrow at Rose School. Please help your child have an optimal testing experience by making sure they get plenty of rest the might before each test, eat a hearty breakfast, and come to school with a fully charged iPad. Classroom teachers will share specific dates for each grade level. If a student is absent, make-up testing will be available beginning Thursday, May 12th.

Click here to read the district MAP letter.

  • Spring Teacher Tributes Now Available! As summer approaches, please consider sending your child's teacher or favorite staff member off with a Teacher Tribute. Your donation to the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation in your teacher's name allows the Foundation to continue funding grants and resources to students and staff. Each recipient will receive a certificate and you may add a personal message. In addition, they will be recognized on the Foundation's website. The deadline to submit a donation is Wednesday, May 18. Click here to make your donation today!

  • Rose School is participating in a school supply drive for Ukrainian children.

Between now and May 4, Barrington 220 schools are working with non-profit organizations to collect school supplies for Ukrainian refugee children. Collection items include backpacks, lunch boxes, reusable water bottles, pens, highlighters, markers, crayons, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, scissors, glue sticks, rulers, toothbrushes and toothpaste. All donated items should be new and not used. Donation boxes will be located at the front of our school building. If you are not able to drop off items at school, you can also ship them directly through amazon. Questions? Contact Kamila Henley at 773-827-6855.

  • COVID Dashboard: We have 2 positive student COVID cases reported at Rose School this week and 0 students in quarantine. We have 0 positive staff case to report. If you have additional questions about positive cases and quarantines, you can also check the district COVID Dashboard for up-to-date district COVID information.

    • Per new school guidelines, District 220 is now accepting negative home covid test results for certain symptoms. Please review the most up-to-date IDPH guidance here.

Enjoy the rest of the week. It is hard to believe we are speeding into May!

5th Grade Lou Malnati's Frozen Pizza Fundraiser

The 5th grade class is running a fundraiser to earn money toward a 5th Grade Legacy Gift, a tradition and an opportunity for our 5th grade students to give back to our school. This year we are supporting the purchase of new snow sleds!

We are teaming up with Lou Malnati's to sell coupons for frozen 9" pizzas at a cost of $13. $5 from each pizza sold will be donated back toward the gift for Rose School. If you'd like to place an order to support their cause and cannot place it with a 5th grader, you can still contribute!
