Durham Nockamixon Elementary School, December 2015

A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL...

As we are now in the midst of the holiday season, it is a busy time of year for all of us. With the Thanksgiving Holiday just behind us there is still much to be grateful for here at Durham Nockamixon! As we look ahead in the coming weeks at concerts, festive celebrations and service projects, I would like to take a moment to share some of the highlights of November events.

As you know, last year we had our first Veteran's "Wall of Honor" which was very well received by our families. This year we expanded our celebration to include a breakfast, followed by classroom visits and an assembly tribute honoring our Veterans. The emotion and gratitude expressed by our Veteran's and their families was quite moving. This is a tradition which we would like to continue. Please enjoy the video clip below which highlights some of the event for you. Enjoy!

We are grateful to our parents for taking an active role in your child's education during parent/teacher report card conferences and your ongoing involvement in the happenings here at Durham Nockamixon.

Accompanying the close of the marking period, we held our quarterly school wide celebration of student accomplishments. This is always especially enjoyable since we pause to recognize the many kindnesses that our students extend to one another throughout the school. Our celebration also recognized students in each grade level who have met or exceeded goals in reading and/or math.

Wishing the best to you and your family this holiday season!

FIRE TRUCK RIDE!

Big image

Congratulations!

The following students were thrilled to have their names be the first drawn from the Positive Paw collection box which earned them a very special ride on the Fire Truck driven by Deputy Chief Keogh of the Ottsville Fire Department! These students earned a positive paw at some time during the month of November which is "Bully Prevention Month." Students earn positive paws for good citizenship and following school rules recognized by any member of the faculty or staff. Mrs. Collie, Mrs. Cianni and our school mascot "Spike" enjoyed our very first fire truck ride with students!

Many Thanks To Mrs. Mauger's 2nd Grade Class!

We are grateful to the students in Mrs. Mauger's class for coordinating our school wide Trick or Treat for UNICEF fundraising drive. Due to the efforts of our students and your generosity, Durham Nockamixon was able to donate over five hundred dollars to a worthy cause.
