Dumfries Dispatch

A Caring Learning Community Celebrating Diversity

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Parents,

Happy 2020! A new year brings an opportunity to set new goals. I encourage our wonderful Dumfries community to set a goal to become engaged with our school. Come attend a PTO meeting and see how you can partner with our teachers to support our school.

Join us at school events such a Skate Night (January 21) or Math Night (January 30). Why not volunteer in your child's classroom or help with our Spring Carnival? We welcome all families and would appreciate your partnership!

On January 24, 2020, students will be released at 12:20 P.M. The afternoon of January 24, 2020 is for Parent Teacher Conferences. Please take this time to connect with your child's classroom teacher and set up a conference to discuss his/her progress. Report Cards will be coming home on February 4th.

Thank you for all you are doing to support your child's learning.

Anita S. Magrath

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Friday, January 24, 2020 after school. Please feel welcome to reach out to your student’s teacher to set up a time that works with your schedule. Email addresses for staff are available on the Dumfries Elementary website, or you may contact the front office for assistance. Teachers can also be reached via phone.

It is very important that students attend school every day. When a child is not in school, it impacts their learning. Any student absence requires written communication from the parent with the reason for not attending. This can be via a written note, email, or other written communication with the teacher. An absence cannot be excused without a note. Notes must be sent in within 5 days of the student’s absence to excuse. We appreciate your phone calls to inform us of your child’s absence. Please follow-up with a note. If you have any questions, contact the front office.
