Parent Newsletter
March 16-20, 2020
Updates and information...
3/17/2020 Parents, if you need to contact me, please use my email as the main line of communication. I am replying and will be able to do that even when I'm not at school. I will reply asap. Please stay safe and tell your Broncos that we will back and ready to see them.
UPDATED INFO...How can you help students keep learning at home?
Parents,
We are sending out info about things to do with your children while we are out of school. Teachers will post weekly info on their websites and send out Remind/Dojo messages. If you don't have ANY access to a phone or tablet, email me and we will arrange to get you a paper of things you can do at home without internet access. This is a work in progress and we are figuring things out the best way we know possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding. My contact info is at the bottom of this newsletter.
Go to www.southforkelem.org and then click on TEACHER WEBSITES at the top. Once on their website you will be able to see resources and information about learning activities for each week. Teachers will update this weekly. Please check back to see updated information. I will continue our weekly newsletters to share information.
Please know that we are working to get information to you as soon as it is available to us. This is a fluid situation with things changing by the hour. We will use this and our social media accounts to distribute information as it is received. Please take care of your families and know that you are all in our thoughts. I am including resources below that you may wish to use with your children. Take this time to read with them, play games, dance, and draw pictures. Talk to them but be careful not to overwhelm them with adult conversations. Students can also access MobyMax and Reflex Math at home. Keep them thinking and engaged and we will get information to you asap about the next few weeks.
How to Get Free and Low Cost Internet
Many companies are providing free internet and even waiving fees. I know that Cox is doing this and you'll need proof of enrollment. Here are 2 things that will work. We've had parents get this going already and wanted to pass it along if it can help.
1. If you receive SNAP benefits, you can use your benefits letter that shows your house list and includes your address, student and parent names. You can access this on the cafe portal on their website.
2. If you need a proof of enrollment letter, email me your request including your name and your student names. Email your request to misti.thomason@lpsb.org and I'll send you the letter that you can use.
