Thanksgiving Edition!
Gratitude is the BEST Attitude
We feel so so blessed to be part of your child's lives as they learn and grow this year! Thank you for sharing them with us, and thank YOU for your continued support in your child's learning! Team ZavTop is most certainly a great place to be!
THANK YOU to all that wrote letters of gratitude to your children! Today was truly precious. The children were so excited to see their letters and were totally surprised! They all read and reread your words and some even cried! (teachers may have as well) -- These kids are awesome, and we often lose sight as parents of how cool they truly are! Everyone is busy, but it's nice to let them know how much you appreciate them once in a while...Today's activity supported just that. 110%. Thank you!!! Recap of our week!
ELA: Now that we've established what "close reading" is, we're going to be using it to dig deeper in our text to identify main ideas, draw conclusions and decode new vocabulary! Stay tuned for practice text to come home next week!
Math: We're continuing to work on our Unit 2 restaurant design project. Students are encouraged to take these home this weekend and work on their menus and advertisements!
Spelling: New sort on Monday! *Check in with your child if he/she did a repeat sort this week to ensure an 80% was minimally achieved on the sort test in Spelling City.
Science: This week we rolled out our electricity unit with a "Lights Out" activity on Tuesday! This was an engaging activity to get the kids excited about what they'll be learning! They came back from lunch to see that our classrooms had NO POWER! It was the weirdest thing! Lucky for us, we had wires/batteries/bulbs so that we could continue our learning IF the students could figure out how to make their bulb light using only the materials given! Perseverance was an essential part of this activity and it was AWESOME! -- Lucky for us, the lights came back on after recess and we could continue with our learning! This unit involves creativity, perseverance, problem solving and the ability to follow directions. Stay tuned for more info. regarding our electricity challenges!
