The Vaile Mansion. A wonderful place full of history and mystery. Built in 1881 by Colonel and Mrs. Harvey Vaile, the 31 room mansion holds 9 marble fireplaces, amazing painted ceilings, toilets, a built in 6,000 gallon water tank, and a 48,000 gallon wine cellar.
Schedule: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Open: April- October and the holiday season. Cost: Adults- $6.00 children/students- $3.00 Seniors/ groups- $5.00 Preservation: the old mansion was preserved by Mr. and Mrs. Roger DeWitt. The Mrs. deeded the property to Independence less than a week before she passed.
