Mustang Memo

August/September 2023

Here's what's happening at East Meadows...

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL! We had a great start last week and are looking forward to an amazing year. Many thanks to Spanish Fork City Police, Fire and Emergency Responders who came to help welcome back our students. We have such a wonderful school community and the best kids in the world!

For those who have visited the school, you've probably noticed some changes to our front entrance. Our security doors are only a few weeks away from being completed which will bring some changes to what visiting the school looks like for parents. These changes will greatly enhance security for our students. More information is included below regarding our security upgrades and new protocols.

For those who are new to our school community, the Mustang Memo will be sent out at the beginning of every month. We ask that you read this bulletin thoroughly as it contains all of the upcoming events at East Meadows and important information for parents.

As always, if you have any questions or want to share concerns, don't hesitate to contact us. We are here for you and your family!

We're Ready to Roll!

Road Trip 2023-2024: Destination Success & Signs of Success

As we welcomed back our faculty in early August, we launched our yearly theme which is 2023-2024 Road Trip: DESTINATION: SUCCESS! Our goal as a faculty is to help every single child find success and growth on our journey together through the school year.

We are excited to involve students in our theme and have launched a "Signs of Success" challenge. Each month we will be introducing a strategy to students that promotes a growth mindset and positive interactions among our student body. This month our "SIGN" is to "BE A FRIEND". These positive road signs will be hung in the hallways of our school. Our monthly Mustang Pride Assembly will also focus on these growth mindset strategies.

NEW SAFETY PROTOCOLS AT EAST MEADOWS

Our new safety doors are nearing completion. We are thrilled to have enhanced safety protocols at East Meadows and wanted to make you aware of the following:

  • All exterior doors around the building will be locked throughout the day except for the front entrance near the flagpole. All students should enter through the front doors in the morning.
  • Students and staff have been instructed not to open exterior doors for people who knock wanting to be let in. All visitors should enter through the front office.
  • Teachers in 5th grade have been instructed not to open exterior doors of their classrooms (located on the north end of our building). Parents who need to drop something off or talk with their child should check in at the front office.
  • ALL VISITORS MUST check in at the front office before entering the building for any reason.
  • After checking in and verifying identify, parents can be buzzed in by the school secretaries in order to enter the hallways and classrooms areas.

Once our security door installation is complete, we will provide signs and instructions for parents upon entering the building. Thanks for your support as we implement new safety measures at East Meadows.

Order School Shirts!

Our school shirt order is now officially online and parents can begin purchasing shirts and sweatshirts for this year.

We are offering $1 off a T-shirt if purchased with a Parent/Guardian PTA Membership. No code necessary.

We also have the option to donate a T-shirt. You purchase the T-shirt and we will donate that shirt to an East Meadows student in need.

Join us for our first PTA Spirit Night - September 12th from 5-9 PM

Each year our PTA hosts "Spirit Nights" at local restaurants who donate back a portion of their proceeds of sales for that event to the school. As the give back money from programs like BoxTops and Amazon Smiles has stopped or decreased, these spirit nights have been a great way to bring families from our school community together while also earning donation funds to the school. Take a break from cooking and join us at In-N-Out on September 12th (5-9 PM).

PTA VOLUNTEERS

We are so grateful to our PTA Volunteers and want to remind everyone to be sure to sign in on our volunteer log any time you are helping at the school. This could include time spent at home decorating a teacher's door, helping with an event, volunteering in classrooms and more! The PTA turns in the volunteer hours and it helps with funding for our school!
