Hello Dutch Families, Students, and Staff,
As we approach the end of the fall semester it seems appropriate to express our gratitude to our coaches, directors, athletes, and performers who dedicate their time and effort to tremendous events and activities. Thank you to our teachers and staff for continued support in building caring relationships and providing top notch instruction. Thank you to our students for your leadership in recent efforts and festivities, and for the joy you bring to our halls. And last, but definitely not least, thank you parents for your continued support and collaboration with Pella High School. It has been a fun and successful first semester and we hope to cary the momentum into the spring. Have a great holiday season and enjoy time with friends and family!

Fall Semester Finals Schedule and Information
***Students are only required to be in school if they have a semester final. Students may use the commons or lobby areas during the scheduled iStudy periods. Students are allowed to leave campus if they do not have an assessment. Halls are to remain clear and silent during exams to ensure students are able to focus on assessments.
ISASP Incentive Student Directions:
Students have earned the reward of opting out of one semester exam. This opportunity was earned through their outstanding performance on the statewide (ISASP) assessment that took place in the spring. The process is as follows:
Students will receive an email the afternoon of December 13th that will be previewed in homeroom that day. (Homeroom attendance is vital for information)
The email will allow students to choose a course in which they would like to opt out of, and may only be processed once.
Students will submit requests by the end of the day on Wednesday, December 15th.
Forms will be processed by staff for approval by Thursday, December 16th.
Students will assume their request is approved unless staff notify them of denial.
Restrictions:
Students may NOT opt out of the final if failing the class.
Students may NOT opt out of a final for a college credit course.
ALL COURSES (non-college credit) will be expected to provide an option.
All arrangements must be finalized by Friday, December 17
2nd Semester Class Schedules, Course Drops or Adds
Through the Infinite Campus portal, students and parents are able to view and print class schedules from the Documents tab. Second-semester schedules may have changed since the first semester, so please review student schedules on the campus portal. Also, please encourage your students to review their second-semester schedule before winter break.
At the beginning of each semester, students will be allowed five (5) school days in which to add or drop a course. After the tenth school day, dropping a course will result in an “F” for the class, unless an extreme circumstance exists.
Course Selection Planning
Students are always encouraged to plan ahead in regard to their class options and future plans. Our hope is that students choose classes that will help them explore a variety of fields and possibly even narrow down some future career options. If you would like to discuss your student’s four-year academic plan, please contact one of our counselors, Teresa Thompson or Jessica Manning, to set up a meeting.
1st Semester Report Cards & GPA
Grades for Semester 1 are due January 4, 2022 by 9:00 AM. By the end of that week,
report cards will be made available on the
Infinite Campus Parent Portal under the DOCUMENTS tab which will include the student’s term and cumulative GPA from the end of the first semester.
School Closing or Dismissals due to Weather
It is that time of year again where we have the possibility of closing school, starting late, or dismissing early due to weather issues. We will continue to notify parents/guardians by phone, text, and email. Below lists other avenues to see if school is delayed or canceled.
To update your phone number and email address, log into the
Infinite Campus Parent Portal and click on MORE tab. Your change request will sit in a queue until our staff can process your request.
