Jim Miller to Speak at ETC
A Message from Coach
Our winter season is in full swing and I could not be more excited with the start we have had. A HUGE thank you goes out to our parents who stepped up BIG TIME to put on a great event. It would be impossible to name every single person who helped us, once again, put on a top-notch event. Just know, your help did not go unnoticed and we could not have done it without you and your family.
Our high school athletes have now begun their school season so wrestling is happening on all fronts. I was extremely pleased with the preseason these guys put in and I know it will directly transition into their high school season. The fight and leadership these guys provided to the younger athletes on a daily basis is far more powerful than any speech or practice we, as coaches, can give or put the athletes through. It is the expectation to represent themselves as world-class leaders in their own community, in our ETC family, and on their hometown team. I am proud of these guys for the progress they have made.
Our youth athletes are slowly learning the trumps of vision and fight. With these two traits, many technical deficiencies they may have in their wrestling can come to balance. Rarely does a match go perfectly. You are battling with another human being whose mind you cannot fully control. Things happen. The best guys in our room are those individuals who may not have the slickest technique, but fight with relentless conviction unknown to most. They are not scared of going to dark places and they love the thought of taking their opponent to that same place. Time and time again, I've seen this mindset win out in the end. No matter what happens during the match, fight fight fight and good things will happen. The best part: everyone can do it.
