From the Board

Happy Holidays to all of our Centerville families. We have had another busy month! We want to thank everyone who came out to our first Movie Night of the year. Big thanks to the Kiddie Academy in Urbana for providing popcorn to all of our guests. If you haven’t been to movie night before, we encourage you to come! Bring a blanket, come in your jammies and enjoy the show.

We are in the planning process for our school talent show. If you have any suggestions, or would like to help, please come to our December PTA Meeting on December 7th at 8AM in the Media Center. Also, on the bottom of our home page www.ptaces.org there is a form you can fill out for any suggestions you may have, please feel free to fill that out if you can’t make it to the meeting.

All PTA members who chose to receive a directory should have already received one. If you haven’t, please contact membership@ptaces.org. If you didn’t purchase a directory and would still like to do so, we have some left and they can be purchased for $5. Please send in payment and note with your child marked CES PTA to purchase. We only have around 50 to sell.

Don’t forget ~ if you’re holiday shopping on Amazon, remember to use smile.amazon.com to make your Amazon purchases. Please set your charity to Centerville Elementary School PTA and our school will receive 0.5% back on all purchases. Little by little, a little becomes a lot!

We are excited to announce we have lined up a school day assembly for December 12th. Meteorologist Justin Berk with be coming to the school to showcase a STEM based program with a focus on winter weather and safety. If you’re not familiar with Justin, check out his facebook page, Justin Berk, Meteorologist. His forecasts are usually spot on!

We have a lot of great things in store for the rest of the school year! We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and a restful winter break.

Holiday Giving Tree

Happy Holidays, Centerville Families! This year the PTA will be partnering with the Urbana Food Bank to provide clothing items and gift cards for families in our community who could use some extra holiday cheer! Please take a minute to come into the school office where the winter tree is set up with tags to choose from. You are welcome to take as many tags as you'd like. The tags are numbered and some list clothings items (gender and size) and some list store names for gift cards. The gift card amount is up to the purchaser, but please indicate the amount when turning it in. After taking the tag, please return the purchased item(s) with the numbered tag(s) attached to the box by the tree so that we can make sure the items get to the right families. The "Giving Tree" will be up from November 27 until December 14. December 14 will be the last day to bring items in. Let's make this holiday season an extra magical one for these special families!

***The school is open from 8:35 am until 4:00pm. If you are unable to come in during these times, but would still like to contribute, please feel free to send in a gift card. ***

Staff Appreciation

Thank you to everyone who donated an item or dish to the conference night Thanksgiving dinner. It was our most successful dinner yet and the staff really enjoyed themselves. We couldn’t have done it without you. This month, please consider making an extra dozen cookies when you’re doing your holiday baking. We will be stocking the teachers lounge with cookies and treats on Friday, December 17th. If you would like to sign up to drop off cookies, please sign up https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/60b084aa9a62ba64-holiday1

Reflections submissions have been received and judging is taking place. Thank you to all students who entered. We are proud of all our Centerville Stars.
